May have drank too much, but much fun was had at the first gig in ages.

Walk hounds then get ready for a 10k, hate shorter races and already winding myself up. Afterwards is beer and food in the old local.

Ooh look: a ray of sunshine. Nope... it's gone.

Taking Shorty to a Rugby trialling sesh. Oh no - does this mean she's heading towards the having the collar turned up brigade?

    PR later. Wahey!

Hola. Had a quick scout round for fuel (there is none) and the upshot is that the next time I drive the car it’ll be in the certain knowledge that diesel can be obtained locally. No motivation to ride. Just in the final stages of a cold so no running either. Had some marmalade on toast, just finishing my coffee then marking and other work throughout the day. Possibly with PR on this afternoon. And that’s surely going to be brutal!

At least she's put on some clothes this time.

Heading out for a couple hours ride, then back to watch the messy bits of PR.

The usual lie in has been had. Took the old garage fridge to the tip as it's totally knackered, will order a new one for the man cave at the new place which will be needed for beer storage. Will take dogs out later and may do a fuel recce on the way.

    Afternoon folks,
Traditional slow start was enjoyed, just as well as I seem to have done something to my back. I should be moving stuff to and from the loft but that's not going to happen given the state I'm in. Bloody annoying having a glass back. Reasonably blue skies so might go for a brisk walk.

WTAF has happened to this website? I now get that stupid Privacy pop-up every single screen. Click "Accept" does nothing.

Washed new car this arvo, but no time to start the polish job. But at least the rain cleared away and it was rather nice for a change.

Big day tomorrow though. Tiler coming early. Me off to skin specialist to have a couple things excised. OH back for week 2 of radiotherapy treatment. So far, it's been very tough for him. :/ All the "side effects" that are not supposed to start much till about week 4 have already hit hard. Feckity feck.

WS, hopefully that's a sign that the radiotherapy is working? Best of luck to him in any event.

Afternoon, slow start today. Watched young oxo play football and it descended into a right goon show, ref couldn't control his whistle let alone 22 testosterone filled under 17yr olds. Been following the lads football for over ten years and this is the first match ive see punches thrown by the opposition and get away with it and a parent come running on chanting the race card on a player that wasn't even playing. Luckily local FA rep was observing the game and the ref so suspect a rollocking coming for someone. On another note looking at smart trainers so see what happens. Enjoy your day folks. PS plenty of fuel around me.

Stick some in the post if you get a minute Oxo. Shell station I drove past on the way back from the tip was closed, so will leave it till later in the week.

    Crook.

Cold that's been threatening for a few days has finally taken hold. Must be bad, as Mrs H³ hasn't been on at me to do stuff. Seeing as she gave it to me, that seems fair enough. Annoyed to miss out on a pedal and a coffee with V68, but hopefully it'll blow over. I did take delivery of a Kärcher with a patio attachment, that was one of the jobs. Not that she stepped into the breach, just lounged around.

Negative lateral flow for me, and she had a negative PCR on Tuesday, so hopefully not plague.

2 hours and 5 quid on the charger gives me 30 miles of battery powered propulsion. Have half a tank of petrol if needed. Mpg on the in-car display for a 2 ton tank is amusing. There was diesel as New Malden Tesco earlier according to Mrs H³. Luckily I/we don't need to use a car over what the battery can cope.with I'd be fuming if I did. Not sure who at, but there's some high grade coontery, from top levels of govt all the way down to j.public.

Tried again to find some diesel. There’s literally no fuel within 3 miles of my place. And I live in a pretty densely populated area with loads of garages. Suspect that I’m not driving anywhere for the next couple of weeks. According to Boristhecunt, it’s all part of the pain that we need to go through to be a better cuntry…

Apologies if that’s too much swearing. I’m not a happy man at the moment, what with the prospect of another 10 weeks of away games so an extra 10 working Saturdays for free. Actually, it’s not even for free. If I don’t do them then I have the threat of my pay being reduced for not going over expectations. Nice.

Monday is one of my wfh days, so I do school drop off. Also, I have a cold.

Much as I would hate to be seen as amplituhedral, I will have to pass.

Not sure where is GMC towers vis a vis SG mansions, but lunch at Andrew Edmunds on Lexington St could be congenial. The old fella keeps one of the best value lists in London. Bubbly is not overlooked.

Ah, it's kind of expected isn't it, well, obviously it is, else you'd not be complaining.

Looking back at my school days, the time the sports guys gave up. Autumn and winter terms, weekly Saturday rugby fixtures (home and as far as 50-60 miles on a coach), twice weekly after school training, triple games on Wednesday. Summer, weekly cricket fixtures, home and away as before. One lunchtime net, one after school net per week. Same triple games on Wednesday.

They must have been paid extra (ex-grammar, but private) Surely. Maybe not.

The 1st XV and 1st XI coaches from my era died recently. We're doing a vets (45 plus) game of rugby in March, and then an old boys vs current 1st XI in July. Raise money for their favoured charities, and sponsor a couple of benches overlooking the field where they spent so much time encouraging idiot schoolboys to enjoy sport.

Yeah, at mine it pretty much is expected. It's not so much the rugby, it's the fact that there's clearly been no attempt made to balance the home vs away games. Away ones basically take the entire day away because it's always a 7 or 7.30 meet at the school and back for late lunch. Expectations are one thing, this is ridiculous. I think most private schools have specific sports masters who get paid to run the sports. I'm the head of maths so all of this is in addition to teaching a full timetable and running a big department. And our appraisal system is harsh; expectations on me as a senior teacher are mad but no "weakness" can be displayed. I'm seriously looking for a different job.

Hope you enjoy the vets game. Nice thing to do to remember the legacy.

Indeed, cancer treatment and side effects can be extremely unpleasant. Hopefully it's working for him. Best of luck to you both.

Yeah, 1st XV and XI were games masters who did a bit of lower school English as a sideline. Though u12's through to 2nd XV/XI were taken by "normal" teachers. They must have got some extra bunce. Plus in those days, the 16 weeks holiday was actually holiday.

My mum was a head teacher at a dog rough state primary in Cov, dad was a county-wide travelling music teacher. My ex-wife is a teacher in a special school, my sister in law is a teacher.

I wouldn't touch it for quids. I have to deal with senior executive's mentalist whims amd desires, complicated transactions long days dealing with crippling legalese, and never really have a proper holiday. Piece of cake cf other people's kids and their fcuking idiot parents.

Fwiw I still write to one of my a-level history teachers. We share an interest in the Western Front and hill walking. I also meet 2 or 3 times a year with a couple of old friends who were in the same class.

I might need petrol for Tuesday evening for a trip to darkest Kent. If I do get any I want to save it for next week though, as the EPO and I have a few days in Hastings booked.
