Brum Commie Games chipper route

Does anyone have any insight as to the potential course for the Brummy Commie Games TT and Road Races?

They're using the Lee Valley for track, we won't be going to that there London.

Has there been any test events or similar rides round Warwick? Notable climbs etc? Glasgow had the test event a year ahead and we knew the route well in advance.

They should do it around the Elan Valley, that seem to be an extension of Birmingham on weekends.

ATM, nothing other than the RR focusing on Warwick (as you know) and the ITT on Wolverhampton. No test events either.

Ah yes, the 2013 Nationals. No repeat of that arrangement this year since next month's fill in for the Lincoln GP.
  • None of the other routes (marathon / cross-country / triathlon) are currently available either, for that matter.

Burton Dassett and Edge Hill, nothing too selective... difficult to get proper gap

  • Outdoor courses for all but the cross-country races are now public.

RR is a 16km loop (men do 10 laps, women do 7) with the start/finish line in St Nicholas Park. Most of it passes through Warwick / Leamington Spa, plus two Hamptons on the rural west side.

ITT is 37.4km long for men, 28.8km for women. Start and finish lines are in West Park; route heads from Wolverhampton to Dudley and back, with the men also passing though Gornalwood and Himley on the return leg.

No elevation profiles but I'm guessing there aren't any notable ascents.

[P.S. Someone needs to have a word with the organising committee on their choice of featured images for the road cycling events on the sports page...]

It’s the commie games they got a breakaway to the finish in Delhi and that was pancake flat
  • It depends on the weather and who turns up - August in Warwickshire is a different prospect to October in Delhi. Even then, women's race was a different story (big bunch finish, won by Rochelle Gilmore - how time flies).

It would be easy enough to chuck it into Strava's route creator.

Here you go, 1400m of climbing roughly in total so not pan flat but not really hilly.

It'll be described as a "challenging, punchy course with a few niggly kickers" by the pundits, mind.

I failed to get tickets for the track which is a loss for this forum as I would have been looking for people to go with.
