Have no idea what he is supposed to have said and don't care .
I am reading "The Third Reich in power" at the moment .
Should be required reading for the FA and all who support this .

You can always rely on the FA to focus on what really matters.

'Cake Stop' and 'right wing' are two phrases you don't often hear in the same sentence.

Not sure it's right wing to suggest they should put their efforts into sorting things out now rather than going after someone who said something stupid as a young teenager nearly a decade ago. Low hanging fruit springs to mind.

Don't remember it. You're trying to make the point so back it up, or you have no point. But that's probably not new ;)

Apart from one or two, most of the most active posters on here seem to hold many 'right wing' views (free markets, etc), and are in decently paid management or consultancy-type jobs, and many of them voted for Thatcher, IIRC. I think you might be confusing a dislike of Johnson and his party of incompetents with being a 'leftie'.

How would you define a 'leftie'?

Just wondering - is the opposite of 'leftie' a 'rightie'..?

  • So , do we think someone should be hauled over the coals for something they said on social media at 14 years old , or not ?

I think that could be defined as avoiding the question. You keep on claiming that CS is a leftie bastion, but I see a lot of reasonably comfortably-off, generally right-of-centre, one-time Thatcher-voting middle aged males... not the stuff of revolution.

I've no idea what your idea of right wing is, other than supporting the Johnson rabble in parliament, and claiming that there's no point in analysing what's wrong with the Brexit agreement. Everything else you seem to think is left wing. Well, I suppose it is a definition, but not a very robust one.

In what way is Bojo right wing? his policies are on a par with Ed Miliband. If Corbyn wore a blue rosette it would not make him right wing.

Right wing and left wing are all subjective. To me Steveo is leftwing as he believes in high taxation and spending topped up with colossal borrowing.

I agree, I don't think Johnson is, but that seems to be part of Stevo's definition, in a similar way to how the Republican Party is defining its right-wingness by agreeing with whatever Trump says, rather than any political principles.

Johnson seems to be quite right wing in some of the views he spouted in his writings in the telegraph.

Having said that, it seems his views depend very much on either

    a) who's paying him (e.g. Telegraph)
    b) which ever way the wind is blowing and is the best bet for him getting power (e.g. flip flopping on Brexit and having a pro and and against article for Brexit at the ready).

    He's not a man of conviction, he's a populist.

Bola should probably address the issue and hopefully put the record straight - assuming his views have changed. If his views haven't changed, then there's a potential issue. Apologise and move on.

Judge him by his actions- he was running a £60bn budget deficit pre-Covid, putting up taxes, interfering in the markets wherever possible, increasing barriers to trade. Big infrastructure projects.

Take the rosette off and he is to the left of Brown. I accept that given time Brown would probably have shown his true colours but so far Boris is totally out socialisting him.

I think you're trying to have a sensible conversation where I'm not that fussed. It was more about giving ddr a metaphorical slap for being an arris.
