Early start as eldest couldn’t sleep so we walked the hounds as the sun came up.

Work stuff then possibly TT or more likely a run. Then pub based socialising

There are early starts then there are 04:34 starts!

Will need at least 2 100% pure Colombians to get me revved up enough to get out for the Friday workgroup, back to the pulling, gently but firmly, of the ragwort on the chalk slope wildflower meadow.

    There will be beers tonight.

    On holiday as well....

In office again as I need my second bike ride of the week. The bike commute will become a bit harder after we move house as it goes from 11-12 miles each way to 18-19 miles each way. Good excuse for a new bike though.

Coffee and Cornish pastie beckon - I've earned it :)

    Sunny but very windy.
Can that wind drop please? I'm too light for strong wind. That power to drag ratio thingy.
Maybe i'll fill the frame up with sand and carry 2 bricks in my bottle cages and a breeze block in my imaginary saddle bag,

Morning all, not sure what to do today, tomorrows marathon training is a 15 mile run so I'm tempted to go big on lunch and a light dinner.
Last week we ran past one of the teams parents so a toilet stop was quite easy, just a wet wipe tomorrow :#

    Correct re food.

As important to train your gut as the miles, eat little and often to ensure you maintain your energy levels.

Top tip re getting caught short, grass is better than ferns but if it’s dried grass it’s very painful

Brake cleaner (aerosol) gives a good, quick blast in that region.
(Although a little chilly, refreshing nonetheless).

    TLW can supply?

GT85 does give the fingers a tingle when it gets on them...

I've found the High5 aqua gels are easy to digest and also mix them in my hydration vest. They also do some gummy chews which I use but I find you can't beat some real food so I'll take some malt loaf tomorrow as well.

Morning, cold one today, feels weird for August. Some calls this morning post issues around work.

Fun tail of woe relating to my brake upgrade going about as smoothly as 40 grit sand paper, finally sorted though foolish me thinking I could get away with using some 6 bolt to centerlock adaptors I was given...

    £72 later its sorted :|

Mind you while the back wheels off I can clean up the cassette up, silver linings etc.

Weekend looks oddly dry not sure if thats the weather being mis read or actually real, someone get some runes an consult them for me please. Be nice to roll out the best bike for some speed.
Still need to get my act together an cobble the old PlanetX back together, it does need a touch up with sand paper an some clear coat though as its about 95% bare carbon currently which reminds me, any decent deals on shallow rim carbons? Clinchers would be better in rim brake flavour.

    Is it beer time yet?

When the weather is pants, put your limbs over your eyes, ears and nose and it will all go away.

    Afternoon folks,
Busy day of wfh, trying to get up to speed with all the admin my beautiful assistant does as she is off next week. I'd be so phucked without her. Off to the pub with the EPO shortly, we've got back to our Friday routine. I see Imposter thinks milemuncher is back, HD made the mistake of commenting. How many threads will get derailed by their frustration at being unable to consumate their love?

    Well now, a day indeed.

A day spent working on the wildflower chalk slopes. Lunch stop view:

All good and strangely relaxing, even with leaden August skies and a 90 degree angle to deal with. Good chatter with the others etc.

Get back to where our vehicles are parked to find that some thieving fucken arrisole twunt had smashed my rear door window to nick a backpack on the rear seat, one which holds my waterproofs, chainsaw trousers, gloves etc. FFS. Scumbags.

Sorry to hear, I know your pain.
Seems to be a lot of it happening. Don't suppose you were in Buckinghamshire at the time?

Aye, payback from the 'community' for all the volunteer efforts. Barstewards.

    In Oxfordshire thistle_

Work sites are not that far away, if I got up earlier I could bike there like several others, but mornings are not my thing. Then there's the work kit, the work boots vs the spd pedals etc.

Upside, autowindscreens right on the case, just phoned me back to check part, turns out the glass is available (was dreading n months lead time for sourcing from Mitsubishi) direct and appt to replace brought forward to this Monday. A small positive to start the day.

Hmm, Bucks is just next door.

National windscreens were pretty good with me too, phoned on Saturday, glass not in stock and their local supplier didn't have it in stock so they ordered it from elsewhere and replaced it on the Tuesday.
I was pleasantly surprised, I also thought it might end up being a month before it got done.

I guess you're having a similar nonchalant response from plod?

It's The Valley, aka TooManyFuckenScotesLand. Actually the email response by TVP to my online crime logging was pretty fast, they came back to me last night about 5 hours after I logged it. I did it online rather than occupy the 101 number real time as there was F all the polis could do post event: some twunt does a low level bad thing and legs it from a rural location with no cctv or that, no point in me prioritising myself over another potentially more pressing and urgent call.

Apparently it's the same operational crew that handles 999, 101 and online.

I did go back there this pm and had a trawl around to see if he/she/it/they had dumped my stuff. Nothing found, though so much heavy vegetation growth difficult to see.

Annoying and frustrating as fxxk. Move on, look for some new PPE kit.
