Or first time rider. Or even better - bring back the Combination jersey

I'd rather the old guy jersey.

Vingegaard very wisely realised he wasn't racing against pog. Good riding from him both the last two days.

You would think he won't win the TT on Saturday as any remaining specialists have had a much easier few days but I certainly wouldn't bet against it. I was originally thinking the TT was tomorrow to give him a chance of 3 on the trot. He'll probably win the bunch sprint though!

Aren't all the specialists on their way to Japan by now?

The yellow/white jersey combination isn't actually that common. Bernal, Contador and Schleck were the only other three in Pogacar's lifetime. And Schleck inherited his yellow

Asgreen and Van Aert, Mikkel Bjerg, Magnus Cort are all at least semi-specialist, but they've all put work in. Thomas (if he's got some form he's hiding)?

I'm not sure, I was going to do some research before my PTP pick. Probably though so it's hard to see beyond Pogacar.
  • Looks like young riders will officially have 4 of the last 5 Grand Tour victories between themselves on Sunday, underlining just how strong the new generation is.

Also worth noting Pog will be eligible for young rider jerseys through 2023...

We need a proper showdown between Bernal and Pog now.

I can't see Rog really winning it - you guys can tell me otherwise but I can't ever remember seeing Rog put any distance into Pog, and he can't TT anywhere near as well (which GC contender can?)

We had a Bernal vs Pogacar showdown last year and Pogacar destroyed Bernal + Ineos. Bernal has got nothing on him.

Roglic has beaten Pogacar in the past so he can do it again, especially since has a good team working for him, unlike Pogacar who has to rely on himself to do the job.

Did Kelderman play the lead role in the Invisible Man film.

Hardly ever gets a mention in commentary, not really showed himself at all for three weeks and sits in fifth.

Anyway, he's good, but we were talking about a 7 year dynasty for Bernal not that long ago...

    OK... I'll bite

Ineos went all in on Bernal, who it turned out was injured, quite badly, so there wasn't a showdown as Bernal had abandoned. Pogacar didn't destroy just Ineos, he 'just' hung on to the Jumbo train and then destroyed *everyone* in the final time trial.

Roglic can beat Pogacar, but I don't think he'd be doing it in this Tour, better team or no. And UAE haven't been completely anonymous this Tour either.

Bernal is reliant on that back problem being resolved permanently. He seems to have the kick that would allow him to get a gap which is something Carapaz has lacked but he would need to make sufficient gains to allow for TT losses.

Can Remco come back from his less than promising Giro debut? Then there's Pidcock to come through, I assume he'll get his GT debut next season.

As always the big question when someone wins by this margin is whether it is a sign of how good they are or just that the opposition wasn't up to scratch? I accept you can only beat what's in front of you but the question is still relevant.

They don't seem to have really had to do much. Pog has been in a league of his own and has made his own luck by avoiding any mishaps. It's a shame no crosswinds really materialised to give other teams the chance to put pressure on outside of his preferred environment.

Pidcock was pencilled in for the vuelta. As far as I know he still is.

Pog and Vineagar look to be coming good pals

It's no surprise is it, Vingegaard has basically been his best domestique on the past two stages.

Vingegaard clearly came to the Tour to be the number one domestique for Roglic. He seems to have gotten confused as to which Slovenian though, as he's been protecting Pogacar's lead for the past two days, whilst ensuring he won both stages too.

You must be watching a different race to me mate because all I have seen is Pogacar hauling Vingegaard's ass up the mountain for two days. Who was it who sat on Carapaz's rear wheel when he attacked on the Col du Portet and let Vingegaard get back on after being dropped and preserve his second place on the podium?

    Not this bollocks again...

Two days ago Vingegaard was in third, with Uran ahead of him, 3 riders within a minute of him and a further two around a minute and a half back.
Today he's in second, with a few more seconds down to Carapaz, who was a danger to him in the mountains, and over 2 and a half minutes to O'connor in fifth. He's taken time on all his rivals, got two second places to the rider who is indisputably the best in the peloton. He's doing this in the middle of the third week of his first TdF and only his second grand tour (which was only 18 stages) on two back to back mountain stages that are probably the hardest of the race. He was racing Carapaz, Uran, O'connor, Mas, Kelderman and Lutsenko. Pogacar was so far ahead he was irrelevant.

But hey kid, risk all that by trying to make Pogacar work so you can maybe grab a stage win, but maybe get mugged by Carapaz.

I'm hoping for an Asgreen win. Done a lot of work with little personal reward this tour, but might be a touch knackered
