Didn't realise that there's a Souvenir Jaques Goddet available at the top of the Tourmalet. On researching this, I discovered that there's a statue to commemorate the time he was put in a box and sawn in half by an illusionist.

First Tour since there founding that Ineos/Sky haven't won anything

What did they win in 10 and 14?
Weren't in the race in 10

11 and 14 they took combativity awards on stages with Flecha and Nieve

Unless I've missed something, nothing this year
    2011 EBH won two stages.
    Mea Culpa

2010 was indeed the first Tour for Sky.

Flecha took a combativity award that year

Should he manage it, does not Carapaz finishing on the podium count as something?
    (not much I know but.....)
Isn't a podium worth a lot more than a few combativity awards?

I have absolutely no idea who's won any combativity awards in this Tour, although I would guess at Schelling having won a couple as he was in the break loads earlier on.

I couldn't tell you any combativity award winners in last year's Tour, but I can name the podium.
    Worth more yes

    But it's not winning something

    There's no prize awarded
    Are you sure?

Ineos win another Richie Porte so they have a matching set?

8km into the climb and the DQS minibus has only lost just over 1:30 to the peloton.

There have been vulture visits to Northern Europe the last few years, including one that hung around in Yorkshire for ages. Think they came from Pyrenees. There's an issue there that for biosecurity they aren't allowed to leave carcasses out, so there's a lack of food sources.

Obviously they'll be eyeing up the gruppetto

I want to be reincarnated as a bird of prey. It looks a nice life soaring on thermals without a care in the world (not sure about the offal diet though).

There was one in Derbyshire last year I think - not far from Sheffield.

He's added impetus, the gap has increased to 3 minutes in just 1km.

What's that symbol that's been drawn on the road a lot mean? Like a stick man legs with a D for a head

I think that's the beginning stage of a butterfly that didn't manage to metamorphosise overnight to its end form, like most do.

    Shorter stages produce shorter siestas.
I find the long Tour climbs ideal for a nap while the train covers the kms.

I did a run on a hot July day a few years ago (it was the last day of the Tour from memory). I was flagging a bit on a hilly route and had a Buzzard follow me for miles going from telegraph pole to telegraph pole as though it was sensing a potential feast coming up. It was quite disconcerting!
