At home. Sunny so Zwift, gym, knock out some chores and sit in the sun.

May pump up tyres on bikes so at least they are inflated as the sit in the shed.

Mrs H³ at tennis. Me wfh.

I'd rather be wfh than tennis, but it's still not ideal.

    Morning. 3.5day week, this week.

Off to Lake District on Friday, via parents on way up on Thursday.

WFH, but it's sunny. Will get out on the bike at some point.

Quieter day at work today so may try to fit in a bit more sorting at lunchtime and later on. Torturing numbers will probably resume soon however.

    Ciao

    Right

old steerer is well and truly seized inside Dirk's forks

If I pop a modern 1" headset in, apart from aesthetics that I'll sort in due course, any reason why I can't lob in a modern set of 1" carbon forks and use an modern stem?

Just means I can get the beautiful beast on the road now and worry about other bits over summer leave.

I can't think of any reason why that won't work.

It's all down to the bearing recess profile.

Why not source some matching period forks?
Should you worry about aesthetics when you put some Phat rimmed wheels on it?!

Dropped Shorty at Footy. Dropped OH at supermarket. Painted kitchen ceiling at property. Picked up OH from supermarket. Unloaded vehicle. Where's the day gone?
Was going to pedal but have run out of time before footy finishes.
Perhaps i'll go down to the footy and set the rollers up.

    grazie mille!

popped 'new' forks in and all fits perfect - look strangely good, match the Spinergys, compacts the bike right up and well modernises it.

The forks are early 2000s so all good re aesthetics bizarrely.

Cinelli 'bars now look gash but as I have (like most people) about 9,000 random sets of 'bars in the loft it shouldn't be a problem

    Saved 300g as well.

    Shopping list is:

    'tape
    'bars from loft
'stem from loft (ITM Millenium but not sure on it but only when new 'bars are can I tell)
    headset

Will pop a piccie on once it stops raining.

    Grazie again

Aesthetics are everything Pinno. You know that.

Going to source some 1" metal bar and try to drift the seized bit of stem out of the forks, so that happen in about 2038.
In the meantime, it looks strangely good with the carbon forks.

By drift I obviously mean put in a vice and smashfuck out of it with a lump hammer.

Stem and 'bars have to remain silver to match Campag groupset.

WFH, but also mowed the grass, keeping my wildflower bit intact and sorting out the shed, put up brackets/hooks to hang Flymo, strimmer, hedge trimmer, rake etc. Wanted to put up some old shelves I had hanging around also, but can't find the sodding brackets.

4 day week as its my brother's wedding on Saturday, but the event starts off on Friday. There's a bloody talent show in the evening ...

Finally had the replacement glass door panel fitted, the one I had to smash after stupidly locking myself out. Taken weeks for glaziers to source materials. But good job jobbed.

Now that's out of the way might get arris in gear for a quick pootle in the sun / cloud / who knows. Or I could just stay keeping an eye on weirdo trans lad from across the road who has been sunbathing on the pavement while frequently yelling random gibberish at full volume. High as?

Afternoon, fun day of actually doing some work, namely introducing myself to people on video calls an offering "a new perspective" on issues in other words they have no idea. Still few faces I recognise from previous jobs an turns out meetings with your lunch are frowned upon.

Orra, maybe they are trying to cook themselves? surface temps will be higher than air temp anyway.

Yeah, well he was more of a IT developer / database person, but they trained him in accountancy also, but that's him!

He's now working as a contractor for a private investment company. He's a contractor but been there for years now.

Elbow's brother is a lovely guy. Had a great line in looking at you over his specs like you were as thick as a plate of mince when you asked him a thick question, but actually then being very polite, patient and helpful!

I'm clearly the clever one in the family though...

Seriously though, he is smart, but he's probably the biggest airhead also if that makes sense?

He did, I think, two OU degrees as an adult, just for like, the shits and giggles.

Anyway, more importantly, Dirk has had a change.

It went from changing forks to now....

    carbon forks

    Easton EC90 full carbon seatpost

Selle Italia Zero 85g full carbon seat

    carbon 'bars

stand in stem until I sort something suitable out.

Still deciding whether I like it but its saved over 2kg.....

will post a piccie in the morning.

deciding whether to put on some carbon Record levers I have in the loft or leave the ti ones one.
