The only people who should be shamed are those who stare at you for more than two seconds and not wave. Now thats weird.

Not been in Holland much then?
No need I live in London
    Are you in Dynamo?

    If not, why not?
No invite, so im just PRing richmond park laps until get noticed
I understand theres a load of lads riding in Italy over the next couple of weeks in the hope of getting spotted and invited to try out for the Dynamos.

good luck with your try though.

I’ve recently built up a Planet X on-one gravel bike (lovely Cadbury cream egg colours so you can’t miss it!). However I’ve built it as a flat bar as I prefere them in winter. I’ve definitely noticed less acknowledgement from roadies than If I’m on my Bianchi Infinito summer bike. Doesn’t bother me in the least, just an observation.

  • I tend to wave out in the countryside because it seems to be what most people do, but if I'm honest I'd prefer not to, and just focus on my own thoughts - not being a naturally sociable person. Sometimes this means you don't even see the other person. When I'm cycling in Cambridge for work, I invariably completely miss people I know. They tell me later, I saw you on [street] the other day, but you didn't see me. I think it's because I'm concentrating on the traffic, and on where I have to be next.

On the other hand I'm happy to stop if I see someone with a mechanical, especially if they're on their own. Spotted someone walking with their bike recently. At first I thought he had a flat and no spare tube, and was going to offer one, then I saw he was bleeding from some cuts to the face. He said he'd overdone it on a corner, and the bike wasn't rideable. His wife had been with him, was riding home get the car.
  • I wonder if there is something in Rapha jerseys that stops people lifting their hands from the bars. Some sort of safety feature that justifies the price of the clothing?? That would then innocently explain why cool people try to look like they are too cool to wave.

problem is, they don't look and aren't cool.

You can hate on rapha all you like but their new purple brevet jersey looks the bloody business.

Especially paired with white socks, white shoes and plain black shorts.

Also waving at total strangers because you happen to be riding bikes is the behaviour of an imbecile.

    Yes I wave sometimes

The wonderful, kind, gentle, sweet and utterly delicious TDV and I were out for a romantic cruise in the Anaconda yesterday (we were going to the dump).

A gaggle of cyclists came towards us, all over the road they be so, so we pulled over - all of them waved or said thank you.

They were not wearing matching kit.

30 seconds later, another gaggle came towards us, all wearing matching kit, looking v v v serious, again, all over the road they be, so we stayed pulled over.

    Not one said thank you.

I leave you lot to work out which one were the clubbie whankerrs.

It's not just Rapha wearers, I find people riding bikes with disc brakes are worse.

"Grow up"?????? We are talking cyclists here. Not sure if cyclists actually do grow up.
