Hugging is back, FFS!

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed not having to shake hands, kiss random people on the cheeks and hug friends? I was hoping we would get rid of this crap altogether, including the fist pump and elbow shake variants... but looks like they're creeping back.

No, not having to make physical contact with acquintances was one of the few benefits of the last 14 months.

We are going back to the office on Monday. Can't say I am looking forward to it.
Another thing I've not missed is meaningless small talk.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Don't hug me.

    Don't touch me.

Don't stroke me. I am not a cat.

    Don't try and kiss me.

Don't perch on the end of my desk.

Don't shake my hand for longer than 4 seconds and don't try some nobbish crusher handshake

Get out of my personal space.

This aspect of the pandemic was the best thing ever.

I wonder how many more Cake Stoppers of Italian heritage we will get saying that they can't stand all this hugging and kissing malarkey?! :)

there's a difference between PDA and genuine affection.

you're my immediate family - wife and children. i show you affection

Tbh, with the lifting of restrictions, I am running out of excuses not to socialise.

This pretty much covers it, but there are a few others that I have genuine affection for. Shame they felt the need for restraining orders.
  • So, we're now officially allowed to hug people again?

Let's be clear about this: at no stage during the pandemic has it ever been illegal to hug someone. It may have been advisable not to hug, we have certainly been constantly reminded of that, but you could not be fined for doing so. There were no hug police patrolling the streets, peering into houses and gardens, ready to arrest people for daring to hug their Mums. So, the fcuking government cannot now graciously give us permission.

If you mean me, no, not really. I just object to condescendingly being given permission by Boris and his crew to do something I could legally have done at any time should I have wanted to.

Though personally the one thing I really hope never comes back is the handshake. I've always loathed them.

I love a good hug and appreciate handshakes.
  • I don't actually mind hugs, from a very select group of people. But handshakes just make me cringe inwardly. They're always from people you don't know well, or at all (you don't shake hands with your parents, children, brothers and sisters).

What’s worse for you: being hugged or the curb style awkwardness of saying you don’t want to be hugged?
