2 rear Campagnolo calipers

Does anyone know why 2 rear calipers are used on some high-end Campagnolo equipped bikes?
There's a rear caliper at the front (!?) and another rear at the rear. I asked on FB but got no answer. Strange.

    What's the difference between a front and rear other than the length of the mounting bolt?

    Are you talking about disc brakes? If so, it's not really unusual. Most manufacturers don't have front/rear specific calipers. The ones which Campagnolo designate as '140mm rear' calipers are used at both ends. The adapter these use to attach to the fork can be used for either 140mm or 160mm rotors just by turning it around. Campagnolo only have a 'front' caliper for 160mm rotors. Bike makers might want more flexibility, or just to have fewer types of caliper in stock.

    Right, about disc brakes.

    I'm just looking at the 2021 catalogue (page 33 & 37) and it looks like there are two separate calipers (although ALMOST identical in appearance).
