I'm planning to replace my current crankset [Shimano MT611]

Hi. Is it worth it to replace Shimano MT611 with Shimano XT M8100?

    There's not a huge difference between them. What makes you want to replace what you currently have?

    Just wanted to match with Shimano XT M8100 rear derailleur.

    There's no reason not to do it if you want things to match, just don't expect there to be much of a performance difference or to be able to tell the difference while actually riding.

    You'll get a lighter chain set but it will cost a lot of money for no real perceivable difference when riding.
    Is it worth it? Probably not, but it's your money and your bike so do what you want.

    Have you got an XT shifter? If not, then spend the money on one. It will make a bigger difference than a chain set swap.

    Now the right arm of my MT611 got broken (lose thread) :'( can you guys recommend what should I get? current crankset is 30T steel ring, alloy spider, Boost (52mm chainline), 175mm length.

    My Buddy just replaced his MT610 (MT611?) crankset. Nothing wrong with it except he ham fisted replacing the chainring and stripped two chainring bolt threads on the spider.

    You could replace with like for like, my Buddy's new replacement was only £65!

    There is the SLX M7100 crankset that would be suitable with the same 52mm chainline and 175mm crank length option.

    Glancing through the previous comments seems like you want an XT M8100 crankset. As already mentioned no real noticable performance benifits but go for it (if you can find any in stock) then you'll have matching XT components.

    The main physical difference between the SLX M7100/XT M8100 and your current crankset is direct mount rather than spider mounted chainrings.

    Thanks, I found one local retailer and he send me this photo. Is this plug n' play? no need to remove bottom bracket?

    Can't see the markings clearly on the first pic to confirm 100%. The info is there for crank type and crank arm length.

    Example:-



    All looks okay to me and yes a 'plug and play' simple re fit job without the need to do anything to your bottom bracket. Just follow procedure on fitting and pre loading cranks.

    This will give you a rough idea for proper installation:-

    Thanks, I will get the 175mm length and it says "RD" what does it mean?
