Post-COVID return

Apologies if this has been done before, but I am coming back post-COVID (off work since mid-Dec).
Are there any plans for getting fitness back? I have turbo and Zwift.
TIA

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I think there's a thread about this which is probably worth seeking out. Don't really have anything particularly constructive to add other than don't overdo it and good luck. Hope you feel well enough for when the good weather gets here.
  • I think you started the other thread, secretsam.

  • https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/back-to-fitness isn't a bad plan, used it myself sporadically from November, but my advice is listen to your body as regards how it reacts to z4+ efforts. If it creates crazy amounts of fatigue compared to how you dealt with such efforts before Covid, consider "down-faking" your FTP in Zwift.

    That's more about having it.
    This is about cycling after.
    Subtle difference.

    Oh, ok. Same advice.

I did two very gentle 20 minute turbo sessions last week and spent the weekend in bed with a terrible headache. Could be unrelated, but might not be.

I'd be certain you've got no lingering symptoms before cracking on with a normal recovery plan.

Crumbs, I've done two 30 mins on Zwift, so far, so...hopelessly unfit! (even by my dismal standards).

Be careful of the 'bounce', I've heard about people getting ill a few days and weeks after, have been watching out for it.

    Keep safe

subtly different it certainly is. why not just start a thread about being lonely and wanting some interaction. you might get more supportive comments than you expect.

    Not off me obv.
  • I'm a Pharmacist in a hospital. I tested positive on a routine screen in mid November. I didn't have any barn door symptoms. Just tired which describes half of the past year.
In all I was off the bike for just over a month. Given there wasn't much else to do for most of last year, my fitness in October had been really good. By December, I was really struggling with 1 hour rides. Still not totally sure if that was Covid related or general deconditioning from lack of activity. I've been building it up and now comfortable with hilly 2 hour rides, but still way off the pace I was at by September/Autumn. That will improve over the coming months though. Don't push yourself too hard so that you stop enjoying it.
