Front fork rocking left to right

Greetings!

My sister told me that her front suspension fork is rocking from side to side and when I checked it out the fork has quite a bit of side to side movement where the stanchions enter lowers. Does anyone know what is the cause of this movement and how to fix it.

Thanks

  • Sounds to me like cheap Suntours, that's one of the reasons I replaced with RS.

They are just cheap forks. They are only £40 new. That’s cheaper than a decent set of rigid forks.
I’d consider buying a good suitable second hand fork and swapping them over.

There was a recall for a certain batch of the M3030 forks in the USA and Canada around 2015 for a defect where the front wheel came off and some reportedly 'minor injuries' caused.

Another good reason to ditch them for something better.
