Morning, freezing whilst walking tigger, will get out on the bike later, docs appointment this morning.
Sungod is this really a lockdown, there seems to be just as much traffic on the roads , pedestrians etc as per a normal day, although I am not sure what the rest of the country is like. All I know is that the number of covid cases in Lincolnshire is on the rise daily,
    Have a good day

Not that cold (surprisingly). Went out in my hoodie but had to take it off as I was too hot.
    WFH as usual.
    Undecided later.

Morning. Friday is here - not my usual style to be pining for my days off, but that's how things are at the moment!

Had a good Zoom chat, last night. Talked about "Phoenix Nights" and that Dean Windass goal.

Morning. Taxi duties over me and mutt chilling today. Won't be riding for a bit as wrist has decided otherwise. That's what happens when you fall off.

I prescribe coffee, Radio 3 and Cycling Classics on Youtube.

I have a bit of time for Hambini. He's a solid Engineer - people take issue with his scrutiny, but he's right.

Yep. If we started installing jobs to some tolerances we'd made up for ease, we'd be in heaps of shite.

Not sure how some of these frame and component manufacturers get away with it.

    Morning Peeps,

Slightly chilly cycle into town to be a lockdown rebel and escape random jobs from Strifey. Now enjoying free office 'coffee' and occupying several desks while on a virtual Symposium (posh name for a jolly except it isn't because we were meant to be in Barcelona but we're not).

    I'm getting peckish already...

Oxo - was it a decent crash?

Tired legs after fun bike last night, could do with a gentle jog, but feet are still swollen and blistered 🙄

Home bar bound tonight, hopefully new heater will make a difference

Para mi, radio 2 bar that lunchtime J Vine a vs b confrontation nonsense, oh and Zoe Ball wittering on about tv programmes all the time, on the radio. Good chat with Tim Minchin this morning though. Leavened with good doses of 6Music.

Slow start after yesterday's heavy work day. Bit of bike fettling required. Bit of admin stuff. Just starting to rain, again. I have never liked November.

    Morning folks,
Happy Friday. Currently wfh and fending off the usual idiots. Off to the hospital in a moment to get the wrist checked out. Very much hoping for no surgery. Hope yours isn't too bad Oxo. More importantly how's the bike?
I'm surprised by those figures TLW, roads seem just as busy around these parts.

There was a bit more traffic on the road on my ride in this morning compared to Tuesday, although admittedly I did get up half an hour later as I knew there'd be almost nobody else in the office today :)

11 cars a day through the village instead of the usual 16?

We went into town last Saturday and the traffic (and number of people) seemed to be about 680% of usual

Can you not invent some quack lockdown maintenance kit to sell?
  • What if I don't like Champagne? I find it a little dry for my pallet and overpriced for what it is.

My whippet and I would rather have a pint of mild and nurse the £50 still tucked under my flat cap.

No riding for me today, might set the turbo trainer back up properly as I had the vectors on it for an FTP test and they're still sat there.

    Palate. ;)

You don't have to buy brut champagne, most houses make sec & demi-sec variants. ;)

You should see the price of English sparklers if you think Champagne is overpriced. Scandalous. Load of well-priced French fizz that ain't from Champagne too. Cremant de Loire, Cremant de Bourgogne and Cremant de Limoux to name just 3. Normally in the £10-£15 bracket. There's also good cava and sekt out there. ;)

Fwiw I don't drink much champagne either...

I didn't realise mild was still a thing. I used to drink it when I was a lad - Ansells or Banks's mild. Always cheap, never any discernible alcoholic effect. I never see it in the pubs anymore, even when I go back home.
  • I do apologize for my spelling.

MrsHD likes it so if she has a bottle I'll have a small glass to confirm what I already know and open something else.

Down the pub I'm actually more of a fizzy lager man to be honest, I'm just trying to hold up the northern stereotype.

  • Ayup!

Quiet start to the day, still feeling the effects of last nights ride. Morning of pretend wfh. Now manning up to get out and ride again, a proper lumpy route from the OH's to mine and back again, hopefully to pick up a cheque (old fashioned, I know) for services rendered, a pretty bob it was too.

OH's parents are self-isolating having been in recent contact with someone who has croaked it from the big C-19, so she's flapping like mad. Hopefully, with some alcoholic lubrication when she finishes work tonight, it might be enough to turn her into a sex crazed nymphomaniac again

    One can only hope.

Surely medium white and a soda stream ;)
H³ it could also be one of these

Check up done, but not exactly conclusive. Looked at wrist and weren't too sure if surgery would help. Did some Xrays to check and still weren't sure if it would help. Left me with the decision.
    What do we think.
Wrist currently a little uncomfortable most of the time with occasional shooting pains if i do the wrong thing. Locks up when riding a bike and clicks painfully when I free it off. Can't ride some bikes because of the angle or weight on my wrist. But it works for most run of the mill stuff.
So with no surgery it might improve as I carry on the physio, i will almost certainly end up suffering with arthritis when even older than i already am.
With surgery I would be back to square one initially, but hopefully the clicking and locking up would get fixed. I would have no more movement than I do now. Arthritis pretty much a certainty.
    What would you do?
  • Get it fixed.
Surgery is the only route to go.

is it that they don't know exactly what's wrong and thus don't know what to do?

    What would you do?

    What's the difference?

Carry on with physio - it "might" improve, you get arthritis.

Get surgery - it will "hopefully" improve, you get arthritis, p!ssed-up orthopaedic surgeon "fixes" the wrong wrist, and leaves his cufflink in your arm, more surgery.

Seems the only difference is the surgery, which hurts. I'd be asking my orthopaedic consultant to put some numbers on "might" and "hopefully". If "might" is 10% chance, and "hopefully" is 75% chance, I'd be wanting the surgery (though armed with a magic marker to write "this one" on the correct wrist, and checking his cufflinks for stability under pressure), but if it's 50:50, I'd be carrying on with the physio before going under the knife.

  • Am I missing something here? Sorry. :/
What has been identified as the problem? (I know it hurts! But…)
What would a surgeon mend/do? (poke around in the dark?)
You need a second opinion, at the very least
