Ordered wrong wheel type need rear rim brake

I have replaced a untrue old wheel with a new one but ordered rim brake version. My bike frame is an old specialised hardrock.I would rather buy a rim brake set than send the wheel back,as it awkward with work.Could you please recommend me a rear rim brake set that will work with my frame.

Thanks

Mick.

    What year/model is your Hardrock?

It will be much easier to send the wheel back and get another replacement. If you go down the new rim brake route you will need the brakes, cable and possibly new brake lever(s).

  • Its 2012 yes i will need to buy new breaks, but because of my job and the fact i cycle to work i cant get to the post office. Its easier for me to just buy a new rear brake.

    Would these do.Im only commuting

What brakes have you got at the moment. As if you don’t already have rim brakes you will have no bosses to fit those V brakes on to.

Maybe I'm being dumb or have I missed something but isn't there two versions of the Hardrock, one disc brake specific so does your bike have both disc and/or rim brake mounts on the frame?
  • Mine has both so i can fit v brakes or discs.I have discs on at the moment, but i will keep the disc on the front and fit v brakes on the rear.

Apologies, I'm obviously being dumb, missed webboo's edit, it's been a long day. 👍

Yes those V brakes should fit although it might look a bit miss matched re the levers. Although I would just get the correct wheel and sell the rim one if you don’t want to return it.
