    I admire the skill and bravery of MTBers that do that stuff but do find it incredibly uninteresting to watch. I suppose doing it must be an adrenaline rush.

    Yup! Looks similar to one road hill climb I do with a crossing trail.
    Wouldn't say it is common but Ive seen it done a couple of times.
