D Lock sizes

Hi,
I have recently got into cycling and am wanting to get a D lock, ideally so it can go around railings/lamp post after having gone through my back wheel and frame. What size D lock would do this?

    That would depend on how big the lamposts are near you, most D locks won't go round some lamp posts. Diameter of lamp post plus 6" should do it.

    I've edited this to railings also. As that's where I park up most frequently. What size would it need to be for railings?
