So who is going to win the Tour? PTP will appear Tuesday evening. Based on top 10 in the betting.

Due to my own prejudices I have mistakenly omitted Pinot, who while he has never won a WT stage race in 11 years as a pro, is seen as a favourite. It is however an oversight on my part, so put him in 'other'

I know Roglic is the clear favorite to win, but I place my bet on Bernal. And the reason is that he has got the entire Team Ineos working for him.

We have seen Chris Froome beating the much stronger Contador due to Contador also having to fight against Team Sky, rather than just Froome.
  • I’ve gone for Roglic going off his current form and the sheer strength of his team. But there is a little doubt about how he carries his form through to the 3rd week. The 3rd week is brutal under normal circumstances but in this unpredictable year with lack of racing. Bernal will be right there.

I ve gone with Roglic too. He has to be the favourite with Bernal a strong second. My dark horse is Buchmann.

Antwan Tolhoek, Sam Oomen, Tom Dumoulin, Thymen Arensman, Remco Evenepoel, Benoît Cosnefroy, Tom Pidcock, Mark Cavendish, Romain Bardet

    Favourite - Roglic.
    Outsider/Podium/Other - Kuss.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

  • As long as the winner is riding a Bianchi, I’m happy. Dumoulin or Roglic would be my bet.
  • Roglic looks a strong favourite at the mo, but I'd like Alaphillipe and Pinot to put in a strong challenge for podium spots.

Carapaz to just hang around not doing anything much, and others to fall by the wayside.
  • It almost feels like there's not a lot to choose from, regardless of Rich omitting the entire Dauphine podium.
Therefore I have voted just to curry favour with Rick. :D

It's not about the bike, Nick. I don't remember you ever saying "anyone riding a Btwin", back when AG2R were on them...

It should be Roglic given the imperious performance at the Dauphiné. In fact it should be a boring walk over based on that.

But this year anything could happen including the race just not happening so....

I've gone for Bernal. Everything points to Jumbo and Roglic, but something tells me they'll find a way to muck it up. Don't know why.

I picked the riders who are the shortest odds at the bookies (but missed Pinot)

I would quite happily have settled for that, they are great bikes, but there was no realistic way AG2R we’re going to trump the Sky train. And you have no idea just how good the XR4 really is. It’s incredible, you could put a trained monkey on it and get results. It might be a pensioner, but it’s still bloody good.

I'll be gobsmacked if there are any teams left in it after 3 weeks if they are going to ban teams if 2 or more riders become infected with C-19. There's far too many people involved throughout the teams, media corp and hotels that they will be staying in to expect C-19 not to rear it's ugly head.

I think it's an absolute farce that it's even taking place at all, but money, as ever, is far more important than peoples safety.

If he has got over his crash, Roglic has to be there or there abouts, but as an outside bet I'll tip my hat to a South American rider, Bernal or Carapaz.

I'm going for a last minute twist where Ineos bring back Thomas after pretending to leave him out and he wins.

I'm actually struggling to get excited about it for some reason, probably as it seems likely it will get cut short. Also, it felt like a chance to get all the big guns together for a rare head to head with no real guide to form but the field feels diminished with Froome, Kruiswijk and Geraint missing.

Id like carapaz to win, it would cement him at the top.

AG2R stopped riding Btwins long before Sky ever got going Nick. Plus, the bikes were only branded 'Btwin' but made by Cyfac. But I'm sure you knew all that...

no way will the French let Le Tour spread covid-19 all over France. Think if three teams go down that will be it for the race.

lets tray and stay positive and hope no one tests positive

Roglic to win with a good team behind him.

Bernal to abandon with Plan B hovering around the top 10 and Sir Dave wondering 'What if?'.
  • PTP will be Roglic, but I can certainly see a scenario where Dumoulin stays in the top 5 and Rog cracks in the 3rd week

On the assumption its completes, I'm going for Bernal. I do think an outlier may get the jersey at the race collapses mid way though?

Assuming the tour goes the full 3 weeks I think it will be a straight up fight between Roglic and Bernal.
I am leaving towards Roglic but then with the strength of Ineos you just never know.

I do hope it's not Roglic. Is there a duller rider out there?

    Yup.
    Tom Dumoulin. :D

.................although Roglic definitely wins the dullest interview competition, "errrrrrrrrrrrr yeah...." in monotone, every time.

I think purely on face value it's Roglic but I think also there is a bit of an open question on how he will do in the 3rd week.
