Campag Zonda rear hub stuck
hi all, Ive spend a solid hour trying to loosen the hub and remove the end cap and from my zonda rear hub.
With the cassette freehub body removed, the instructions say to use 2x 5mm allen keys either end and turn anti clockwise and the non drive side end cap will unscrew so you can remove that and then the preload collar.
This end cap is not budging, so just wondering if anyone has any tips before i look for a LBS tomorrow

yeah this is what I've seen and the steps I followed are the same. Fine with the process, I'm just stuck unscrewing the end cap using the 2 allen keysgethinceri said:0 -
Sometimes they use some threadlock compounds... they can be pretty hard to undo... better, longer allen keys might helpleft the forum March 20230

These end caps are on a very fine thread and can sometimes need a very high release torque. I'd advise you to release the pinch bolt on the preload cap (so that there is no compression at all on the internal threads of the axle) and use two, good quality 15cm long keys. Try and oppose them at as close to 180deg to each other as you can, put the wheel on the floor, on a soft surface and push down on the two keys.
Just be ready for the keys to suddenly "give" because once the cap starts moving, it'll move suddenly.
If you have access to a vice, you can do the same thing clamping one of the two allen keys in the vice and putting a short tube on the second allen key.
There's no Loctite on these end caps but occasionally salt corrosion can cause them to lock up pretty tight. Grease with a good quality Lithium or Barium grease when reassembling. Lock to 6-8nm (Campagnolo state "firmly" in the Service Centre manuals) ...
Please note that front hubs of more recent (post 2015) design cannot be opened this way (even though they look as if they can).0 -

Managed to free it yesterday. Some wd40 the night before and then long allen keys and it gave!
Will be sure to add some grease when I've repacked the hub bearings0
