Meh, another stupidly manic day at work, with a foggy head after raising a glass or three for my great uncle who past away in a nursing home yesterday of a respiratory issue but absolutely not COVID 🙄

Later should hopefully be road bikes

    Morning
    Ride, breakfast then WFH.
Something's scrabbling around in the wall above the window, will need to make a hole in it to investigate.

    Condolences Tlw.

Slight wine induced fuzz this morning but nothing to worry about. May turbo later depending on wife.

Morning, dose of rain this morning while escorting the hound places to go poo. Joyous mayhem of people leaving the UK for Austria. Does mean I have some actual work to do for the first time since March which is a novel concept.

    Condolences TLW

    Have a good day

tdf is scheduled to start at the end of august, virus/governments permitting

early ride interrupted by a slow puncture, sealant dried out i think, both tubs are multiple-holed from glass on wet roads but as they're old/repaired i've been using tufo sealant to keep them going, wanted to get another 2-3 weeks out of them before putting new ones on for hols, at least i could ride it home

off to see if the latest slug of sealant has worked

    Morning folks,
Day off today so a not so traditional slow start is being enjoyed. 25 years of the EPO putting up with bad jokes from me.
Condolences TLW, but also congrats for yesterday.
We're off out somewhere shortly and ordering a take away later. Not much in the way of a celebration but it's the way at the moment.
Oh, hope you're not too stiff today Thistle. Couldn't sign in to laugh yesterday so I think it was Thistle that fell off his turbo. At least I was moving when I crashed.
Oh, that reminds me. Got a draft copy of the assessor's report on damage to old bike. Very thorough and understood that it was rare and vintage rather than an old nail. Also complimented me on how nice it was. Should be back and fully functional after a trip to Argos cycles for the frame. Unfortunately I still can't ride as wrist very painful.

Zwift were saying that's it's a virtual event this year, starting this weekend.

It's not though it's just some Zwift rides in some imaginary part of France that some pros might be doing. Short stages too, not 200km and only 155m of climbing.

If it's as stereotypical as the London one there will be frenchmen with berets and onions everywhere and a 2CV on every corner.

rode it about 20k, 8 bar, seems to be holding, there's a distinct plug of it in the worst hole, i think it gets eroded/replenished as i ride, until the sealant runs/dries out

trouble with tufo is it's so effective it tends to seal up the valve extenders, putting in the first lot is ok, but next time it gets tricky

    What are you going for?
I was thinking about what wheels to build up to go with my Bamboo frame and feel it warrants something different. As it's disc brake I could go for wooden rims as braking wouldn't be an issue. But I'd have to use tubs. Or deep carbon for a contrast?

TLW - condolences to you and the family. RIP.

Nose to the grindstone again today, will take The Panzer on a round the houses drive to Waitrose this evening, amazing how easy it is to get lost on a one mile drive.

V, congrats and condolences in equal measure re: wife and bike. Hopefully I got that the right way round? :)

Something classic, I think. Rohan Dubash built me some crackers a few years ago and I am going to ask him for something similar. Shallow, "narrow", not shy of spokes, durable hubs. For touring and weekends away.

    Wooden rims eh... https://www.cerchioghisallo.com/en/prodotti/cerchi-in-bambu-per-pneumatici/

Bellagio is glorious. But then we should be driving to Tuscany in a little over 3 weeks. Hmmm...
Also trying to buy an original Fiat 500L from Verona that would have to be driven back. Although driving that back would take a week.

Yeh it's stunning. The whole lake is.

I think driving is the best way to do it, at the moment. Maybe not in a 500.

My sister and her best friend hired a 500 Cabrio to do a road trip holiday around the lakes in Italy. I thought they were nuts - two largish middle aged women with giant suitcases full of stuff in one of those??

They reckoned it was a hoot (if a little cramped..)

    You can get convertible 500's.

Something's scrabbling around in the wall above the window,

    Leave them/it alone. They're/it's nesting.

A bit brighter today but not a lot done after killing myself on a hilly, damp, windy ride last night.
Forgot the Lusso bibs in the cupboard. Then remembered that they're like wearing a pair of shorts with a horse saddle stitched in off the bike but... on the bike, marvelous comfort for my bony arris. Great vfm.
