Have a good daymy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
As heads is tails, just call me Lucifer.
Back to the laptop. Starting to lose a bit of motivation. Don't know how people work from home full time. They must have enormous self discipline.0 -
No we don't. I work better till the wee hours.
Coffee drunk.
Shorty's school work with very tricky sims, memory test and research task set out.
Must go pick up engine from transport blokes.

They've probably moved production to baking ventilators, no sympathy for SD.sungod said:cantuccini have run out, none in the cafe, dark days

Are cantuccini those rock hard almond biscotti that you dip in vin santo after dinner in an osteria in the piazza della cisterna in San Gimignano, long after the day trippers have gone home? While a harpist plays quietly in the warm still air as part of a series of open air musical events? Her music, and the conversation and laughter of diners and drinkers echoing off the ancient stone.sungod said:cantuccini have run out, none in the cafe, dark days
Those cantuccini? If so, I feel your pain bruv. Any other sort of cantuccini? Just have a custard cream.0 -

Week 5 of shielding begins.
Of course the advice could extend it from 12 weeks to 52.
Pretending to work from home. Sent an email at 8:30, just to show willing.
Enjoyed a weekend off the forum, may take an extended break from the CV thread. Hopefully out for an evening ride later. A week of warm evenings beckons.0 -
The thread title had me searching my memory for a while. The only place I could make it scan was in "The Owl and the Pussycat"0

First time I ever had cantuccini. The summer of 2001, oh to be young again. Also the only time I ever enjoyed them! I have only experienced dusty, dry, flavourless abominations since then.
That holiday was the time I realised what Italian food and wine was about.

My main achievement of the weekend is that the cars are now clean and shiny and have recharged batteries . Onwards to work etc - and coffee."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

I can't even remember where the car is. It's not outside the house, nor anywhere I can easily see from the front room window. Must be somewhere, though I don't remember seeing it when going out with the dog/on the bike. Maybe I'll send the boy out looking for it. A fiver for him if he can make it work. Maybe Mrs H3 knows where it is.Stevo_666 said:My main achievement of the weekend is that the cars are now clean and shiny and have recharged batteries .

Am plotting my JOGLE route in absence of meaningful work this morning. I am going ot track the miles I do under lockdown against it and pretend I'm somewhere more interesting each day.You can fool some of the people all of the time. Concentrate on those people.0

If you haven't used it this month, good luck with starting it. Mine has one of those electronic dashboards and it has been nagging me about a low battery on a regular basis, so I've been forced to take it out for a decent blat once in a while to recharge ithopkinb said:

Ah, Mrs H3 took it to B&Q on Friday to pick up fence panel paint. The car that is. Apparently it's "round the corner", and started fine.0

Haha - I'm going to be a bit longer at it, given I'm not doing more than an hour a day lol.
Interestingly, I worked out how far I'd got so far and I'm exactly at Gretna Green! You can fool some of the people all of the time. Concentrate on those people.0 -

Rode to work this morning. I usually ride over the Downs, it's 60-80 minutes normally, and anywhere from 300-500m of climbing; normally I go home a bit more direct so it's quicker and less climbing. Do that 2-3 times a week and it's knackering! I've found a flatter option to the north since the corona crisis, but it needs to have been dry for days. There are lots of flat sheltered bits that get wet and muddy and stay that way. Found some new trails though, makes you realise the joy of exploring and finding new places.0

Next time I’m doing it the plan is too look at things other than the road directly in frontLongshot said:tlw1 said:

Well, so far, the scenery hasn't been all that. It mostly looks like the inside of my garage or the Surrey HillsYou can fool some of the people all of the time. Concentrate on those people.0 -
Afternoon, lazy day thus far spent trying to work out why its so cold, turns out the wind does that. Log burner is burning logs, dog has capsized in front of burner so all appears good.0

In other news, the out of office auto reply from a girl in our French tentacle made me smile. It said 'Despite all the constraints, our teams remain mobilised to continue, even part time, to bring you satisfaction.' Maybe they've branched out into escorting to make up their profit numbers?"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Evening folks,
Another busy day, wfh for a bit followed by a wobble and some wfw followed by another wobble and more wfh. I'm looking forward to this being over so I get a bit more quiet time. Tomorrow is all wfh I think.
Italian pedant mode on, cantuccini are small cantucci. Cantucci could equally be what SG means, but without seeing the size of them I can't say with any certainty. Don't get me started on "can I have a biscotti" or even worse "can I get a biscotti".hopkinb said:

Or a panini. Used to drive my old boss mad. "It's a farking panino at best", he used to rant.0

I was trying to avoid that one, it’s a f’ing bread roll. The word doesn’t even tell you what type of bread roll.0
