Ciao

Does anyone know of there is a charity specifically for old cycle kit like they have for footy kit?

Currently de-cluttering and have shed loads of old kit that I don't want but don't just want to donate to the normal places that will just lob it. Be nice to see it go to people who will use it tbh.

Its not cool enough to sell but has been superceded by new stuff.

grazie.

You could contact Sally Gardner (sallygprism@gmail.com) who has happily taken
unwanted cycle clothing from me to donate to cyclists on the African continent.

i used to but since the Great Conflagration of Talbont On Usk the use of fire around these parts has been restricted solely to the annual Festival Of The Sock held around the second week of June.

I've just mailed this lady to see what she says.
Hoping I can just post stuff somewhere.

Tried cyclistsfc, but have had no reply.

Did anyone find somewhere? I've just gone through the loft and separated out the stuff I don't wear for whatever reason. Got a bag of perfectly useable kit taking up space.

I also have some stuff that I want rid of.
No-one was interested in buying it and it's all pretty much new

Nope it's all DHB leisure and non race fit stuff.
Bought a bit of it before I went full roadie with race fit kit.

Maybe set up a facebook (other social media sites are available) group and list stuff on there. You could either ask people to make a donation of £5/10 to the charity of your choice or get them to pay it to you and you then donate. I guess it depends on your trust threshold.

It doesn't achieve quite the same ends as suggested by the OP but it might help someone.
You can fool some of the people all of the time. Concentrate on those people.

  • I just would prefer it get used to be honest. Such a waste to chuck it away or have it taking up space in the loft.

There was an article in cycling weekly a while back about this sort of thing. Loads of pics of Africans wearing Kingston Wheelers kit! I'll see if I can find it....

    Hey all,

I've stumbled via facebook on this charity run by a cancer survivor:
    https://facebook.com/thebikenetworkcharity

    https://thebikenetwork.org/

"Supporting Cancer patients, survivors and their family members by supplying them with bicycles and cycle equipment."

I've only just messaged them, but we have an old 2005 Spesh hardrock we are going to give them, and I also have some spare handlebars, seatposts, stems, tyres etc I am going to let them have.
Sounds like they also take kit as well, so am going to see what items I can send their way.

Going to send pictures of the kit I have over the next few days, and will update on here with how it goes, and what they actually do take.

They are based in Plymouth, but he has said they can come and collect stuff in a few weeks time.
