Tick-tock

I've suddenly got a loud tick-tock from my rear wheel - only when I'm sitting on it ped - happens whether I'm pedalling or not.
It doesn't happen when I get off and spin the wheel.

Any ideas (it's embarrassing - like the crocodile in Peter Pan).

Spokes all tensioned about right? Is the wheel true?

Comrade, in the process of checking the spokes, I've noticed an ominous split in the rim itself - looks like I need a new wheel?

That would cause some ticking, appears you caught something in the pad

You are very lucky that didn't let go completely while you were riding it. I'd suggest buying a few lottery tickets, and a new rim

I haven't a clue about buying wheels in terms of compatibility. I know they're Giant S-R2 wheels and I've spotted a pair for sale on ebay but, again, I have no idea what to look for in terms of fitting my bike.

I've bought them - £65 for the pair - happy enough.
