Best mud tyres?... 29er.

Hi, I did do a search, but closest I could find was a few years old...
Currently on Schwalbe Ray/ Ralph pairing, but I think these will struggle if the going gets gloopy/ heavy...
I see that MM's are rated quite well, but is there anything else better?...
I've just come back to the muddy side, so still getting on top of all the new tech, etc...

    MM's cover a lot of bases compared to other wet condition tyres, are there better tyres for extreme mud yes but most of them don't do mixed conditions.

    I keep a MM on the front all year round with a DHR 2 WT 2.4 on the back.

    I was pointed on here in the direction of Maxxis Beavers as a mud tyre, though that was for a 650b wheel. The rider that uses them (my son) says they are excellent.

    When its muddy, you can't beat a specialist mud tyre! But how many trails do you ride where they are ALL mud? I find that mud tyres are not too good wherever it's not muddy. They skitter over the hard stuff and the knobs ping off rocks and roots. They are good in snow though, but crap on ice.

    I used to fit a mud tyre in Late Oct and take it off again in late Feb. Then I bought some Continental Trail Kings with the black chill compound. (Very important that, the BCC - if it doesn't say BCC then it isn't. If the tyre has wired beads then it isn't BCC either).

    I used them all Summer and Autumn and I was planning to switch to my mud tyres when it started to get muddy. But the tyres kept on gripping!! :) Yes, there were a few places where the mud tyres would have been better, but not too many, and the rest of the time the TKs were there usual brilliant selves <3 . So they stayed on all year round. :)
