Shamelessly stolen off of @CafeRoubaix who went with...

Now, as a summation of the (GT) decade I could agree but as The Best Cycling Photo?

I feel we can do better....

Yeah. Who needs Gavia, Ventoux or Tourmalet.

Some nominations (which turned out to be quite Sky heavy):

    In second place....

    But the winner is.....

There's the Contador retirement one. Not sure that is best of the decade though.

Not seen this before but I bet the conspiracy theorists will be claiming this photo is clear evidence that sky had motors in their wheels :D

    The photographer explains

"How does that even happen? Funny story. Elia Viviani flatted. He held his wheel up high and waited for a spare. And waited. And waited. 200m down the road, there was carnage - bikes and bodies everywhere - so he waited some more. Eventually, frustration got the better of him, and he tossed his wheel down. Nothing violent, just the normal ughhhh moment of a race lost to bad luck. Unfortunately for Viviani and his wheel - when the wheel bounced up, the wind caught it, and it was off to the races. He didn't win. I assume the wheel is either still rolling or far, far down the field."

  • I'm afraid it is not a dramatic pile up but quite historic.

I took it in 2010 and it shows Emma Pooley, the winner of the Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Féminin nearing the top of the Col du Tourmalet.

It was the last such race since the event was ended by lack of interest from sponsors. I just happened to be cycling the other way at the time, I don't watch bike races really.
  • The Boothferry Bridge one's excellent because it was planned for, although the light and the alignment of the peloton conspired to elevate it above the ordinary.

Rather fond of this one, which tells the whole story in just one shot:

Focal point of lead rider is too central, if he had been ~33% in from the left or right of shot, it would have been an excellent composition. ;)

Shame for the blur in the middle. Otherwise really solid job. It's genuinely an improvement! Also, the spray from the wheels is missing. ;)

In order for this to be all time great, the main rider needs to have been all time great. :|

Also needs to be 4k.
