Hi peeps. Going to Praia de Luz for a couple of weeks in August, so fancy hiring a decent road bike for a few days whilst there. Anyone got any recommendations for hire shops, routes, etc? many thanks

Much appreciated Laurentian. A look forward to seeing what your contact turns up. The link to Megasport seemed to favour MTBs, and stocked road bikes I'd never heard of...

    And the answer is: http://www.motorent.pt/ingles/index.html

Good luck! I've taken my bike out there and had some lovely rides. My friend who is out there is on Strata - if you want to see some of her routes, let me know and I can pm her strava info so you can see where she goes.

I've just had a look at the site - looks a bit 'holiday bike' rather than specialist if you see what I mean. Let me see if I can find anything else . . .

Well, after speaking last night, it seems that this place was recommended by a Cycle repair shop in Portimao who said they had some "decent bikes" sounds like it may be at least worth sending them an e-mail to find out exactly what they have got. Still trying to find out if there is anything else.

Portimao is the nearest decent option for you. Failing that it's a little further in the car to Sao Bartolomeu Des Messines to an excellent shop there. You'll need to plan your routes carefully to avoid the 125 which is the only really busy road but you will have to cross at some point.

Don't leave your bike alone in your hotel room while you go out for dinner...

  • I have also used Megasport. As a previous poster said free delivery in the Algarve but if you are hiring a car at Faro very handy to collect on the way down to Luz. The carbon road bikes are good and the service is excellent
  • Me and my brother rented two GS 1200 in Faro from these guys https://bookyourmoto.com/ but I suppose they can deliver your bike whenever you want. A littly costly though.
