Steel hardtails (UK companies)

Test drove a Production Privee shan the other day and loved it, so am looking for a steel hardtail.

Have seen and ridden others, Stanton, Swarf, and am currently settling on a Pace RC627.

Any other contenders ? Would prefer a decent tubeset so no P7 or suchlike ? not heard great things about them but would love all opinions..

  • BTR lead times are 9 months and re super dear.

Curtis look nice, will delve deeper. Shand are local to me but I don't like them.

Keep em coming will look at them all.

  • Hmmm seems I can get a good offer on a new Orange P7 RS as well.

525 but how much difference will I feel chucking it around compared to say, the Pace in full 853.

£400 quid difference in price worth ?

Are you looking for ‘Frames made in the UK’ or UK companies selling steel frames?

On One? (Tiktik/Hello Dave, the formerly Sick frames from Taiwan)

  • I was looking for UK made.

Anyhoo had a daft turn last night and am spunking double the budget on an Orange 5 factory ?

Quite a similar bike really ,,,,,ahem! lol.

Definitely UK made anyway. In Halifax, by proper engineers and craftsmen. :) haha.

  • Good job, the Orange hardtails aren’t made in Halifax, or even the UK...

Ahem, Engineers design something they don't make it, Technicians (craftsmen, rather not, you want adherence to drawing not an interpretation of it) make it.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • So the engineers are involved in making them then ? like I said lol.

Anyway, the guy that made my bike had pictures of nudie wimmen on the wall at his bench. Good enough for me :)

No, and clealry not what I said, I'm an engineer, I design stuff I don't get involved in making what I design, wrong skill set.
    Your opinions don't change facts.

  • Oh dear. Ok then then whatever you say.

Designing something is being involved in it's making.

I'm a craftsman by the way, I've worked with engineers, non of them design, they are all involved in keeping the power on.

Try to be less rude while you're at it. Sanctimony is an ugly trait.
