I have no advice to give except to do what the doctor says.

But I am interested to know what happens next, please keep the thread up to date. :)

Surgeon at the time of the op suggested six weeks, but was surprised I went Mountain biking at 73! well trail riding, it's enough. :) I am going nuts not being out on the bike but don't want to hurt myself.

I've been off the bike for more than two weeks now and I miss mtb a lot. Your surgeon probably built in some safety, but why take the risk? You have the rest of your life to live, and I sure wouldn't want to be taking a risk with post-operative problems in that part of the body! :'(

Six weeks will soon pass. There's always bike porn; I like this Santa Cruz! :)

Wow!! if I was following her down the trail, stuff the prostate. :p
    Gudun Steve.
  • A couple of friends have had problems after prostate ops, landing themselves back in hospital thanks to being bored and lifting and cutting hedges.

Take your time, every day is a day closer to getting back on the bike. Set yourself back by rushing it means you're back to square one.

I've been off the bike for around 2 months now, whilst having tests for an enlarged prostate. The bikes have never been so clean and maintained!

    Good luck

Update. Went for my first ride today six weeks after my op, my usual ride through Sherwood forest trails to the Edwinstowe Craft Centre cafe. Around 12 miles round trip, used gears I have never used before :p but IT WAS GOOD. Took a bit longer but really enjoyed the ride. Come Sunday I will be yomping around a soggy wood in the midlands with my Longbow on a field archery competition hunting Wild boar and Bear ( plastic of course ) first shoot for 2 months and looking forward to it. Aint life good. :)
    Good riding to all.
