The Cookies button becoming this forum's equivalent of Clippy
The orange 'NEW' box on every thread that doesn't do anything when you click it
The egosearch facility not being present
Looks awful on an actual screen (not as bad on a phone screen)
Something isn't right about the order of posts. If you edit a post, that thread should show as most recently active - but it only does so if you add a new post. Combined with the lack of egosearch, it makes finding things like the metric century challenge an absolute FUBAR

  • New login is going wrong. I followed steps to change password from email received - and now seem to be logged into an account using someone else's random email and no post history. (previous username was mtpockets)

Fixed now by going through the process again. Thanks
  • Re did everything successfully last week and came out with my usual account. However it's changed this weekend - my username now has an extra ‘r’ and my post count after almost 10 years on here is in single figures. Nice.

    The good bits:
    - posting images
    - spoiler tags
    - being able to change user name
    - private messages are much better

    The bad bits:
    - no option to go to the first page or last page on a thread. Defaulting to last unread is annoying as it depends on which device you are using and whether you are logged in. Also, sometimes I want the first page, and sometimes I want the last page. Clicking, finding link to pages and clicking again is tedious.
    - no date and time for posts. I miss this. Yesterday at 11.55pm is different to yesterday at 9am.
    - no longer being TheBigBean
    - it is not easy on the eye. I'm not fussy about this, but someone with some design sense should be able to help. Orange seems like a bad choice.
    - no direct link to sub groups

Do we still get topic reply notifications? I am not getting any and... if I click on that small round (globe?) icon, it does not give me the full list of topics I have posted on.

If you click on the globe, then 'Notification preferences', you have the option to receive email or pop-up notifications for topics you've started, bookmarked or been involved in.

The colour scheme seems to have changed today. There now appears to be orange text on a blue background for the pages of a thread that is very difficult to read, along with black on blue for the current page. There also seems to be a few areas with orange text on an orange background, like the post button. On the plus side the font size seems to have been reduced and is now more readable

Titles/bold has gone red, highlighted words unreadable. Have refreshed.

Erm... Yeah. The colour scheme is rekt. Whatever changes you've put in - revert them, it's worse

The format change to show first 5 topics per subforum? Why? Just eats space and results in more scrolling to get past to the subforum one wants to access. Don't see the point.

We now have to sign in with email not our username ? - why ?

Sorry but every upgrade seems to make the forum more amateur - it used to run so smoothly - but now I think you would be better shifting the whole lot to one of the free forums on the web - amazing how its got to be so poor - used to be a great resource.

The "show previous quotes" thing is a mixed blessing: it gets rid of the ridiculous chain quotes that used to fill whole pages, but ruins, say, a quote when you want to add a third comment:

    makes far less sense than

I don't suppose there's any way of forcing previous quotes to be included?

Yeah there is. Go to your profile settings, edit profile, under quote settings, select ‘don’t fold’ and you’re good.

Yer - but you need to do it on an individual post basis ...
which it seems you can do by removing class="quote" fro the blockquote code...

? Just click on 'show previous posts' before you use the quote function.
It's within the text of the post you are going to quote.

If you enter the conversation in question via your inbox then click 'leave conversation' at the top right of the screen it should no longer remain in your inbox.
I did that thanks. And it works! :)
It's a shame that I had to do them all one at a time instead of flagging all the ones I wanted to get rid of and then deleting them all.

Why does the page jump. Every time I try to click on a thread the page jumps.

Just in case you don't see the reply to one of the other 'new forum' threads, I've tried to change my email address and the 'verify' button on the email is not working.

This "20p for the swearbox" thing - we're all grown-ups and it's utterly absurd. Please get rid of it.

Agreed. I admit to childishly messing with it but come on.......

The 20p for the swearbox should be index linked to inflation.
...and after Brexit, linked to the value of the Yen.

    Oli -

I'm getting screeds of blank page and then the post itself. Sometimes it's my post, sometimes it's someone else's.
