What's the general opinion. I have ordered a stainless steel frame. As yet I have not settled on the finish. Do I go for mirror polished with white panels or not polished (brushed I believe it is called) with white panels. Has anyone had experience of both types of finish. All opinions welcome, positive or negative. Ta.

Up to you. White pan else though I would go for a strong contrasting course. White against lusterious metal jind of blends in. You might as well have no panels at all.

Oh if you go for polished you have to put polished silver potenza on it. There are people who will mirror polish that groupset for you. Witha mirror polished frame that would be lush.

As for panel colour white is not good as then you will need white bar tape and saddle. White bar tape is for clean rooms only.

If black.panels dont work for you how about a deep red so long as you can find a matching bar tape. Brooks might do a saddle with a deep red.

I'd go mirror polished, brushed might look a bit too much like titanium? I'd leave as much polished steel showing as possible, but how about two colours for the panels? White and blue, or white and red? You may even be able to get that finish where you still get some of the reflection from the mirrored steel? Not sure what it's called, but it used to be popular with chromed frames. I've seen a polished Potenza groupset, it did look nice, but if your frame uses more modern larger tubes it might not 'fit'. I would put it on a vintage frame, or one with classic tubes and geometry. Just my opinion. I put silver Veloce on my 80s Moser frame, but would have preferred to use polished Potenza, if it had been available at the time, and I was feeling flush.

Looking at deep red panel, black decals with white lining. Panel on downtube only. Mirror polished. Company badge laser etched on seat tube.

    Man United fan?
  • This white and gold Merckx is smart. Rear triangle is polished I think. You might want to have less paint seeing as you've gone stainless for the whole frame.

Aluminium and stainless steel are different colours, and don't look good against each other, in my opinion.
