Here is my new bike, was looking at a Bianchi XR-3 did not consider this frame as it was out of my budget but I came across this one that was on offer at the right price. I may never get another chance to buy a bike like this and I guess this now makes me a Dentist!

55cm Matt Celeste in standard Super Record spec, just swapped the cassette over from the SR 11-27 to a Chorus 12-29 as do not need an 11 cog but I do need a 29!
Super Record 11 speed throughout, 172.5mm 50-34 cranks
Stem: FSA OS-99 CSI, 110mm
Bars: FSA K-Force Compact
Seatpost: FSA-K-Force Light SB25
Saddle: Selle San Marco Aspide
Wheels: Fulcrum Racing Zero Nite
Tyres: Vittoria Corsa G+ 700x25 clincher
Time I-Clic Pedals
Old bottle cages fitted as waiting for Bianchi ones, Wahoo Bolt computer. Weight by my cheap digital scales is 7.0kg on the nose with senors etc fitted.

Sorry about the stem this will get this cut once I have fine tuned the fit. Will post more pictures once this is done. First impressions are it is very light stiff frame with all of the pedal effort going to the wheels, done a few smaller climbs and will get out soon in to the hills soon and see how it goes there.

Looking good Tony, does the specialissima have the cv technology ?
  • Thank you, yes it has the CV technology - 80 miles yesterday does seems to help with road buzz and handling but being a stiff bike cannot do anything about rough roads!

That's a beauty. There is something nice about having a bike that is top level even if we all know it wont make us go any faster and there are worse vices than spending money on a bike.

It makes me very happy to read this. I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment. I am "into" cycling enough to want to buy good quality equipment and enjoy riding a quality bike even though I know the benefits to someone of my ability will be minimal. It still feels good and I thoroughly enjoy throwing a large percentage of my disposable income at it.

    Lovely bike OP 8)

May I suggest taking a photo from the side but holding the camera above the height of the tops of the handlebars.

When the camera is below the tops, like your first photo, it looks a bit weird.

That's lovely. I pored over one at my local dealer last year, but couldn't stretch to one (I got a Yeti mtb instead, which coincidentally is supposed to be the choice of dentists too!)
  • Quick update, now with a few miles put on the clock and with the stearing tube cut. Very impressed with the bike and look forward to riding it. What really has suprised me is how good it is when decending, I was never quite sure when on my old Ribble but this so much better. Also sporting some new 50mm carbon wheels, I have just got these and only done a couple of rides on them. I will use them for flatter rides and go back to the Zero Nite's when in the hills.

  • very very nice.

Photobucket is a terrible host though as it watermarks and appears to have blurred your photo.

    Try Flickr.
  • Is that better?

    Is that Drax?

Lovely bike; I was fawning over one in the bike shop nearest work
  • Perfect.

Which wheels are they? Have the campag spoke pattern?
  • Many thanks, no it is Eggbrough now closed and I guess soon to be demolished.

They are a Chinese 50mm deep clincher set I got from Ebay, wanted to try some full carbon rims without breaking the bank. I have bought these with my eyes open so understand the risks and you could argue not to put cheap wheels on an expensive bike but was an itch I needed to scratch.
  • Meh i'd not worry about that. They look awesome.
  • gorgeous bike, spot on wheels, gopping cages. plain black for that baby to make the frame pop even more.

    seriously sweet though.

    Nice!
  • Many thanks, I was not sure about the matching bottle cages thought they looked OK... I have black ones as well so can always swap back if needs be. Never really considered tan wall tyres as I prefer all black and is something to think about in the future but with the weather getting worse and the nights drawing in this bike will be locked up in my garage until the spring!
  • No need! Plenty of lovely dry days to ride through the winter.
