Danish pro Matti Breschel has announced his retirement this week. He's been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and the medication required to treat that has had a huge impact on his ability to race and train. His final race was the Ride London event just over a week ago.

There was a time when he was the man most likely to win a cobbled monument, he had a good finish and was able to use Cancellara as a foil during their time at Saxo Bank, but that Devolder moment never quite worked out for him.

    Yes you wonder what happened post 2011 to really slow him down, and if it was that.
