Hi Everyone. So im looking to get back into biking and ive set myself a budget of up to £1000. I've looked at all the reviews and there doesn't really seem to be a general consensus about which bikes are the best for that money and with the amount out there im just getting totally confused.

what im looking for is a bit of an all rounder, something that will be handle up and downhill terrain up to a fairly decent level. I wont be going on anything too technical or expert level etc.

I was looking at vitus, cube, boardman etc but any advice would be great. Also im only looking at hardtails, id rather get a good hard tail than a rubbish full suspension bike.

thanks
stephen

Vitus do really good bikes for the money, If you want to stay at the 1k mark then I would go Vitus all day. If you did want to push your budget I have a 2018 Whyte t130s with lots of upgrades I'm selling for £1650.

The Bossnut being the pick of the bunch, better gearing, better shock.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

£1000 will get you a good HT - lots of choice. There are quite a few posts in the forum about that.

For FS - the most respected brands at the price point are Calibre, Boardman and Vitus - two of which are linked above. I've seen plenty of Bossnuts and Calibres at BPW and shredding it perfectly well.

Ultimately - the `best` bike is what fits you and your style of riding. We can't help you with that. It can be very confusing - go try a few and see what you like.
