I bought this Sram Rival 1x chainset on a bike from Ribble:

https://www.sram.com/en/sram/models/fc-apx-1-a1

Ribble tell me that these chainrings will fit it:

https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/ ... w-wide.htm

But the blurb on the website specifically callout that they don't.

Can anybody clarify?

Id go with the description on superstar website, they know what theyre talking about and know their products
from a brief internet search it looks like youll have to buy an SRAM one as nobody else makes them to fit
Edit, ok Wolftooth do but they are the same price as SRAM.

one of the MFs is using a Raceface one from Amazon on his Apex chainset and it works perfectly.

it was recommended by a very nice dude off here and was a bargain - £20 or something?

  • Any chance you could point me in the direction of this?

they have a 42 tooth x 130bcd at chainreaction for £35 - the MF in question is running 42 tooth with an 11-32 on the back.

will climb anything but you do spin out quite quickly. admittedly a clubbie would probably struggle to turn it but for a MF it can be frustrating.

  • This doesn't fit I'm afraid. the current apex has an (afaik) unique 4 bolt asymetric pattern.

BTW what does mf stand for?

  • Extensive research shows that there are NO aftermarket chainrings available for this chain set. It seems to be a bolt pattern totally unique to this model! Hoping somebody can prove me wrong.

  • Ah yes, you can get that one. I should probably have specified that I was looking for a smaller chainring for riding gravel in the alps.

This could be worth bidding for if the GXP bottom bracket is the same as yours.

Will be the five bolt so give you plenty of choices for chainrings.
