MTB in North Devon?

Holidaying near Barnstaple over the next couple of weeks, what's options are there for bike parks or decent single track in that area? Prepared to drive a bit of necessary.

    I rode this one from Croyde which was nice. Some hills, goes through Braunton so opportunity for coffee stop. Some vicious looking cows at Saunton who I avoided!
    Hope you're going to Croyde for the body-boarding. Great fun!

    This one was way better. Longer day out, better countryside, and you're a bit more away from civilisation which I like!

    Thanks both - yes, Croyde is our base (a bit of a personal favourite), it's unremittingly lovely!

    I am Devon born, lived Launceston Cornwall and Tavistock

    Two interesting ones are the (not Barnstable) Bodmin Railway, you can cycle down the length and take the steam train back, used it all the time with my sons

    Just a shame it is full of Emmits in summer :(

    For the second route I posted, I started out from where we were staying, just west of the most southern part of the route. If you drive to do this one, you could park up in Exford, there's a car park by the river, a couple of pubs and a shop for refreshments, though it's a killer climb out of the village!
