Comedy Central orders Gods Of The Game

Comedy Central has greenlit a new gameshow pitching regular people against elite athletes in ‘comedy versions’ of their sports.

Gods Of The Game will be hosted by Sir Bradley Wiggins, and will feature a raft of other prominent British sports stars including Sir Mo Farah, Sir Chris Hoy, Rebecca Adlington, Nicola Adams and Tim Henman.

The five half-hour episodes will be filmed in the UK later this summer and will air early next year on Comedy Central UK.

In each round the ‘mortals’ will choose how much of a head start they require, with bigger advantages meaning fewer points to be won.

Louise Holmes, general manager of Comedy Central UK, said: ‘We know that people love sport and they love comedy so taking the two genres and combining them reflects our ongoing commitment to finding funny in new places.

‘We have a truly incredible line-up of athletic names who we know can take the heat when under pressure, but we’ll have to see how they fare when tasked with comedy versions of their sports.’
