Considering my next bike I have a Mason Bokeh which is currently more than enough of a bike for me as my commuter/tourer/audex/gravel/adventure.

I'm wanting a carbon Racer with super record and maybe Bora 50 wheels either complete bike or self build ?
Which frame set? Aero and/or race geometry and lightweight
Disc or rim brakes I think I prefer discs
25 or 28mm tires tubeless maybe?
Maybe used for hill climbs as well as TT

No idea on budget, more motivation once I've hit my personal targets - weight and fitness in next 6-12 months

    all depends on budget.

its great dreaming about stuff but unless you have the Franklins to pay for it, its just a useless pipe dream. Like a clubbie trying to pull Nina - it'll never happen

..there is that... Party reason for possible self build over period of time.
I have a fair idea on group set - just question of brake type leaning more disc and possibly whether 12 or 11 speed.
Have a fair idea on wheels - just question of tubeless/tyres as well as other options

The main issue is the frame and whether self build really would save off a full bike. What frame be worthy of having approx £4/5k hanging off it. As a summer best no guards , rack or lights

C59 c60 or c64 in blue art decor (c59 Defo best colourway)

Bora one dark label (ultras are a proper waste of money for nothing but a carbon hub shell)

    SR12

    Or

    Feska gladiatore
    Colourburn studios custom paint
    Bora's Sr12

    Argonaut
    Cherubim
    Passoni
And that designer who died refenrtl?

Check out Bely's bike barn on weightweenies for inspiration

    Or

What about something like this? viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=13105690

£1500 for a beautiful custom frame and then build it up with your own bits accordingly. If it was me and money was no object it would be Passoni or Pegoretti (are they still a going concern after Dario's death?). What I wouldn't do is spunk 5 or 6 grand on something generic like Canyon or Trek or whatever because a, everyone's got one and b, if you're buying something that everyone else has got why not just get a Planet X or Ribble which does the job just as well for half the money?

Self build. Even if it takes you a while to afford/accumulate the parts, its worth it for the sheer satisfaction that you put it all together.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

Lots of custom frame makes about, so this would be my route as well, £1500 would get you a custom frame More local ones could be Reilly or Talbot, though I dont think Talbot do carbon?
This would also give you options tyre clearance wise as you can spec it to be wide enough for 28's or even more if so inclined.

If your going SR though I'd lean more to an Italian so Passoni or Pegoretti, campy wheels, Italian finishing kit and rubber, bellissimo

Cycling is a complete MONEYPIT... I've still got the CAAD12 to build up and just dont have the time or patience at the moment as I am moving to a flat in a few weeks time with all that entails.
I ve just totted up the bill for all the bits that are still in plastic bags, and I'm almost crying , how the hell has that happened?

    the best.

remember, ugo of wheels and cotton cap has confirmed that countless (ie too many to count) ultegra chainsets have shattered into billions of pieces, so perhaps Claris is the way forward.

Friend has just got his new Colnago, was delivered about 2 weeks ago, full campag super record groupset and Bora wheels,
Its really nice, really really nice, just not what I'd call a dream bike. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for me a dream build wouldn't be an off the shelf carbon frame.
I'd go Field works myself with a custom paint job.

(Just remembered must go and do my lottery for tonight!!)

I'm just enquiring about a Bianchi Specialissima as full build.

Def super Record 12 speed - unless/until the ceramic direct drive comes out? Def mechanical electric just doesn't do it for me.

Leaning more towards caliper than disc but not sure on rim wear although amount of use it'll get requiring heavy braking be minimal.

Likewise probably go latex tubes rather than tubeless.

Some good points and food for thought.

Would I be better off getting a decent carbon full bike then slowly upgrade the frame set and sell off the other bits ? Rather than having stuff sitting around in boxes depreciating.

Do I look at second hand? but trying find stuff local.in right size and age at decent price to make it worth it , is always difficult

A Dreamland bike isn't a second hand bike.

A Dreamland bike is probably fully customised.

What's your budget? It doesn't sound as unlimited as the OP sort of, but doesn't explicitly suggest.

Rim wear hasnt been a significant concern for most cyclists for about 100 years. It hasn't suddenly become one now, either.

Disc brakes turn a dream into a nightmare unless you are very heavy and either ride in the mountains or rain a lot or both.

For custom carbon you’re looking at companies like:

    Sarto
    Legend
    Reilly
    Filament
    Windy Milla
    Alchemy

Not sure I’d call a Colnago C64 off the shelf, not quite sure they have the attraction that previous C series have, they’re very colour sensitive and look bland in the anything but the Art Decor finishes.

Whatever you go with it’s gotta be built up with SR12 and Bora WTO wheels.
    Colnago Master Olympic
    Colnago CLX 3.0
    Colnago Dream
    Giant Trinity Advanced
    Italian steel winter hack

It was bad enough getting the sign off for the Mason.

I'm budgeting £2k for SR £1500 for the Bora and trying to find a worthwhile carbon frame to hang it off
Don't want genetic open mould frame as won't do it full Justin.

Same with the finishing kit something mid range and could always upgrade bits at later date.

Would it be worth getting a full carbon bike then upgrade to SR and wheels over time?

The stuff off eBay I have as meaning brand new g there's a c64 new from a shop in my size for £3k

Ideally if said around £6k for full bike at this sort of spec? Cheaper the better good value.
    Dreamland to me .

Just want something completely different to my current only bike -
