Loads of diversions anywhere near the houses of parliament and Whitehall, played havoc with my commute (my fault for not anticipating it tbf).
Thousands of police to protect that giant cheesy wotsit from milkshakes. Sniffer dogs the lot. About 50 riot vans parked up by the Duke of York Column / Royal Academy.
At the bottom of Horse Guards Road there were about 50 coppers just standing there behind the barriers blocking the road. I said to one of them that it was a bit of overkill and he just laughed. I noticed from this uniform that he had been drafted in from Wales to help police this visit.
The Mall is festooned with Union Jacks and Stars and Stripes.0 -
