I bought a 5 litre pack of concentrated citrus degreaser from Screwfix. Will last for ever. Think it only cost me s tenner or so.
This. Either neat or diluted by a third. Best degreaser I've found and it's cheap. Also removes grease from clothes incl bike stuff. Apply to stain then wash
What a load of rubbish. Apart from the fact you have answered a post from 2019, your ideas are ridiculously expensive.
Shellite is Naphtha in the U.K. cheapest I can see is £6 for a litre Simple green all purpose cleaner. Cheapest I can see is £16.49 for a litre And as for Brasso metal polish. That is not a degreaser and totally unsuitable for cleaning chains.
When the cheapest degreaser on the market is Screwfix No Nonsense Heavy Duty Degreaser. That’s £8.99 for 5 litres. It can be diluted if people so choose. 50/50 will still clean your chain. So that is 10ltrs of chain degreaser for £8.99
I use muc off spray chain cleaner, then put some muc off cleaning solution in one of those little bucket of brushes chain cleaner machines, wang the chain through that, then Karcher bike jet wash thing the chain. Then re lube. I’ve managed to keep chains alive a lot longer than ever before, with that routine. That’s a good thing when the chains are between fifty and a hundred quid each.
I use muc off water soluble bio degreaser, turn bike upside down spray it all over chainset and jockey wheels make a cup of T then brush and wash off with hose pipe spray, drive water out with gt85 and leave for a day or two before re-lubing.

What's this black magic you're resorting to? I could achieve this with a new chain every week or so.
But I have a life, use my bike twice a day in all weathers and dry lube doesn't work well as a lubricant. Unless you re-lube every 100km.
#Squoval.
same here, great stuff.
