Stuck to decide between these two, open to other suggestions around the same price. Bike will be my beginner bike, for local trails and riding down the lake district fells. Thanks again. Links to bikes below the pictures. :D

Of those two I would go for the Vitus. Better tyres, boost rear end for a bit of future proofing, internal dropper post and shimano brakes.
However, the Calibre has better forks (although the description says Reba and the photo shows Revelation).

If you can, try and and get a test ride on each and then decide.

I'd also throw the Giant Trance 3 and Marin Hawk Hill 2 in to the mix if you can find them at sale prices.

    Giant Trance 2 27.5 2016 ¦ Sonder Broken Road 2021¦ Giant Revolt Advanced 2 2019 ¦ Giant Toughtroad SLR 1 2019 ¦ Giant Anthem 3 2015 ¦ Specialized Myka Comp FSR 2009

I would totally take the Vitus there. Much nicer looking bike / frame for me, and they’ve really thought about the spec.

Fork wise the BBB says Reba in the spec - which I think would be worse than the sector. However if there is a revelation on the BBB that’s a step up over the sector - mostly in stiffness of the chassis.
