What are the best value, lightest, alloy, deeper section wheels?

I have had fulcrum quattro LG which were great, apart from the original bearings not being the best, but the wheels were a bit weighty. I'm close to getting back on the bike and need a new set, so wondering what alternatives there are. Would want an alloy rim, but over 35mm, and lighter than the quattro (so under 1700g). Preferably under £400. Any recommendations?

Alloy, over 35mm depth, under 1700g and under £400?

Not sure that exists. Pro Lite A42W is 42mm deep but 1919g.

As above - alu, deep section, light and 'under £400' do not really go together in any meaningful sense..

Ok, what about under £700?

You can get the mavic cosmic and shimano rs81 in this range. Are there any others?

Was going to ask if you're sure about the deeper rim? The Ultegra level RS500s come in at 1648g and Merlin have them for £300 at the mo. Only 24mm deep though

Only 18mm wide externally though so you'll lose the aero benefit unless you're running skinny tyres.

AForce AL33 rims could be worth a look at, they claim to be aero and are pretty lightweight.
DCR Wheels can build them up for you, they're pretty expensive though:

DT Swiss PR1400 Dicut Oxic are now available in 32mm depth although I think you'd probably have to get them from one of the German online retailers.

Not quite as deep as you hoped but very smart looking wheels.

Kinlin 31mm deep rims (Borg and hunt rebafge these) built onto some decebts hubs shouldn't cost the earth

...or you could buy these, ignore the ridiculous tyre-to-rim aero mantra, take one bottle into the 30mile ride instead of two, tuck your arms in 0.2% further, lower your position 5mm and/ or anything else that will affect your drag more than your tyre-to-rim interface...

Depends on where you ride! IF you do a lot of climbing you want lighter wheels over deep dish, if you do mostly flat riding with maybe some rolling hills you want deep dish. Climbing faster is better than descending faster, you will descend faster with aero but you will climb slower because of the weight, if you want both then compromise and look at 30mm rims, and see those Soul wheels I mention below. Alloy is the best bang for the buck obviously, going to carbon will cost you not only more on the cost of rims but you may need to make a few other changes all of which will cost you more money. You can't get a really deep dish AL rim anymore anyways that I could find so you may have to compromise a bit, one of the best deals for wheels that combines some aero with some lightweightness are these wheels: http://2013.bikesoul.com/s4/ Notice the rider weight limit on those wheels, if you weigh more you can call or text them and tell them what your weight is and they can make the same wheel with more spokes, which I would opt for anyways even though they will be a bit heavier because load forces of your body weight and bike weight banging on cracks and potholes on streets can exceed 210 pounds even if your combine weight is only 190, plus they will require less truing. The wheels I mentioned are just one of many examples out there.

Cheers for all the replies.

The reason I would like deeper section rims is because, despite some opinions to the contrary, from my experience even 35mm (as on the quattros)does make a difference to holding speed.

Anyway, it's become pretty apparent that there are none which meet the spec I was looking for in the price range.

So at the moment I may just end up with another set of the quattros.

18/24 spokes front/rear seems a bit odd though, to me at least.
