See, the thing is, most classic cars (MK1 Escorts are a prime example) need to get some oomph put in them else they can't pull the skin of a rice pudding. As a puritan, seeing the dwindling stock of unmodified classics, sadly this is a necessary evil if you want something old, practical and fun.
Unless you go up a notch or two like the 275 GTS but there's not a cat's chance in a dog pound that you would put your foot down in one of them in case you bent it.
Therein lies the rub.

Today will be mowstly grass cutting. They predicted 20 deg + so I had better get on with it if I want to enjoy the rest of the day.
Yesterday was putting the summer stallion back together and all was well until I noticed severe play in the back wheel. If anyone has ever changed bearings and races in a pair of Campag G3 wheels, you'll know what a PITA this is.
Stripped it all down and meticulously cleaned everything prior to re-assembly. That is the most time consuming part.

Shorty discovered the perils of the overlap. She was wearing wellies and she wasn't wearing the cute little size SXM Minnie Mouse track mitts that I bought her, so I had to peel her off the deck and patch her up.

Any words of wisdom for Shorty will be gratefully appreciated.

As per call the owner has a few cars and races them - cars should be used

I agree but some cars should be as they were meant to be and yes, drive them. Jay Leno should sell 90% of the contents of his garage so that these cars get driven. That won't happen though and when he pops his clogs, it will be all sold off for auction and then get stored in some warehouse somewhere just for the kudos of owning it and the increase in value.

TDV flew out for 8 days this morning so will be nice and quiet.

I've got a CAAD12 with disc brakes. I like them but concur that in the dry they're not much better than a decent set of rim brakes. Not much benefit for TTs because on most of them you hardly use your brakes anyway.
