Some Yorkshire wine (which I've had and actually wasn't all that bad).

Oh, and for geology there's some coal around abouts. Or something.

Geology wise... I don't know much but there is a massive mine under whitby (I think) but they are constructing a long tunnel to bring the stuff up to the surface near Middlesbrough! All to reduce the environmrntal impact in the national park.

As sustainable development goes its not a bad attempt in my opinion.

He didn't even wait for stage 1 to start, this year. His head is no longer in the game.

You may want to add a *spoiler* to your rather nice thread, Rick.
    Thanks for stepping up.

Staying in Hawes, watching Stage 2 finish in Bedale. That plus tourist stuff because Miss6899 hasn't spent much time in the Dales, whereas it was my third home growing up.

    Should be good!

Fortunately we have been given until rollout at 13:21 to make any changes so if anyone else is in the same boat...

From the profiles, there is what 20km of World's course? Is that the lap they will do multiple times at WC?

^Ah right. I fell for the earlier marketing guff that it was using the route.

The run in on Stage 1 crosses the same bit of train line twice within a quarter of a mile, 2.5 miles from the finish. These crossings usually close every 10 minutes so I hope they got the timings right. Or they've come to an 'arrangement' with the rail company.
They've also ripped out all the traffic calming bumps on Gowthorpe (Selby town centre). Thorpe Willoughby to Selby is an awful piece of road, surface-wise.

The road approaching the Skidby climb has been closed on/off for quite a while for flood alleviation works, surface as of the other day was dreadful in parts and there's a few narrow sections with steel barriers either side. Could do with a sweep as well. I echo the comment above - they'll be lucky to avoid any trains on this stage.
Old, fat and that's just the bike.

Live within a mile of the Cote de Goose Eye yet have never seen this race in the flesh. Looking forward to Sunday and then trying to get to a very poorly arranged 1st birthday party that finishes at 2pm in Skipton. Not ideal

Will be watching the women’s and men’s race on Saturday as they climb out of Robin Hood’s Bay.

On the surfaces, I'd be very worried if there was a group coming onto Burley Road on Sunday as its shocking (caveat: last seen on Sunday but Leeds CC would not get anything done that fast) - although after previous parcours it's more likely to be in ones and twos who can pick their route.

I have just seen the weather forecast for Saturday (Women’s stage 2 / Men’s stage 3). 40 mph winds from the North all day, with showers.

    Should be interesting.

Beautiful conditions atm in Selby but the local forecast is for showers by noon and particularly heavy rain/thunder for the finish.

Finish line in Scarborough for Saturday’s stage has been moved due to potential weather conditions.

Surprising, 45mph gusts so windy but hardly extreme, I'm assuming the old finish was round the headland and they were worried the sea might splash over onto the road, maybe a high tide ?

ITV wasting absolutely no time in cracking on with the matter in hand and asking Dave B a load of questions about frakcing. Getting about as much of an interesting response as you might expect
