I currently have tektro hydraulic disc brakes on my mtb but was wondering if I could retrofit a set of avid brakes? The discs are same size it's just the caliper the sits at a different angle from the tektro ones! Hope this makes sense

    Which Avid brakes are they?
Older models were designed for use with 185mm rotors so you need to use spacer washers under the calliper. Apart from that they should fit any bike designed to take disc brakes.
Not sure what you mean by the calliper sits at a different angle.

Are you referring to IS versus PM mounting (google is your friend)?
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

If the tektro ones work, I'd leave them on. Avids are a world of hurt waiting to happen, maintenance wise, even of they are NOS.
