Hi,

Looking to find a town to be based in for a 2/3 days where we can go for local tours on breweries/cafes etc. Any suggestions of towns and routes?

Mike

Hard to beat Oudenaarde, plenty of beer options and also several signposted routes out of the RvV Cycling museum.

Oudenaarde is great but ahead of doing Gent Wevelgem we found a town near Wevelgem that has decent access to the hills in both directions. Lauwe is its name... Kortrijk is not bad either, you can get warmed up before you hit the hills, and the hotels are reasonable (as are the airbnb's).

I've stayed in Geraardsbergen too, very nice town and bike friendly.

Came out the hotel the next day, turn left and straight up the Muur van Geraardsbergen/Kapelmuur. That was a leg burner on cold legs.

Of course you are then on the RVV/De Ronde route so you can take your pick of where to go from there (we rode to the Waterloo battlefield).
