Tiagra vs 105 on road disc bikes

Looking at spec for new road bikes with disc brakes, there seems to be a jump of £300 to £400 between Tiagra and 105. The main difference is that 105 has hydraulic discs, Tiagra has mechanical.

Is the difference in price justified by performance/ease of use/ease of maintenance?

    Yep, it's a worthwhile upgrade.
    Tiagra is due an upgrade this year and it'd be interesting to see what that brings, there could be Tiagra branded hydraulic brakes at a keener price point.

    If you're talking Tiagra hydraulic then the advantages of 105 are going from 10 to 11 speed and losing a bit of weight.

    If the 105 is R7000 then you've got bang up to date technology vs Tiagra 4700 which brings more improvements, main one that the shifters are much improved vs the old non series versions (smaller, don't chew up cables).

    If you're going from mechanical disk to hydraulic - that's a massive improvement itself and IMHO worth £300 on its own.

    Short answer is yes, worth the difference.

    Even if i am fan of the disc brakes, between mechanical disc brakes and rim brakes 100% i prefer the 2nd, and yes as the others said its 300 well spend.
