Shifting Problem

I use a GT Grade to commute but have had issues changing from the big ring to the little ring for months and months......I'm now drilled into shifting to the biggest cog at the back in order to shift from the big ring to the little ring and vice versa. It's tedious and annoying.

It's been to my local bike shop on three separate occasions to sort the problem but on every occasion on my way home the problem reappears.

The LBS have said that the design / set-up of the bike makes it very difficult to solve the issue and have done all that they can.

Has anyone else had a similar issue with GT Grade bikes?

as above, it seems that this shop may not know what to do so is spinning you a line.

it also seems very strange that GT - a massive brand - would design, manufacture and sell a bike that the gears cannot be adjusted on.

Thanks for the replies - I'll look at getting it booked in elsewhere to try and sort the issue.

Just wanted to check that there wasn't a known issue.

Have you changed the front mechanism outer cable? Sounds like too much resistance in the cable so not releasing, which could be due to dirt getting into the end of the outer where it passes behind the bottom bracket, or has too tight a bend where it turns up at the BB to fit into the guide hole.

Had no problems running Tiagra or Rival on mine.
