    yes of course you can. exposed, absorbent, always covered in dirt, sweat, any bodily fluids that you may have on hands, anything that touches them, anything that anyone else may have on their hands when they touch them, etc.


    but i wouldn't worry too much about it - there don't seem to be too many instances of death by brifter.

    Shimano were clearly unaware of the use of STI to mean sexually transmitted infection when they adopted it for system total integration. Oscar Wilde would've had a field day...

    We all get an STI each year from our employer, if we're lucky. A global blue chip company which in its infinite wisdom decided to call its bonus scheme a short term incentive. Again, cue lots of schoolboy sniggering at the back...

    With regards to protection I'm a big fan of latex, it's just much more sensitive than butyl.

    You can catch Claris if you aren't careful, I gather it can be very sora. Best advice is to use a Dura-Ace every time

    STI shifters are a good thing. If you’ve got an STI you want to shift it. STI retainers - now that’s not a good idea (unless you keep it to yourself)

    I think SRAM have missed this trick in their advertising. All groupsets are guaranteed STI-free.
