    G'day

Quiet morning then have to go and give a presentation - nothing major just slap bang in the middle of the day so it messes up my doing nothing at work schedule.

I may go to the gym in a minute.

    Morning folks,
Still half asleep, even the wobble in didn't wake me. Due to the most recent bike theft I've gone back to keeping my bike inside the building. Picking up and carrying your bike on your shoulder is the done thing in CX so having a CX bike I carried it upstairs and stashed it in a cupboard near the ladies. Although a spiral staircase is quite tricky with a large bike on your shoulder whilst wearing SPD shoes.
Probably be having another busy day, hopefully no meetings at least.

You'd better go back and remedy the situation.

    Morning

Rode half way to work for the first time in ages. Wasn't enjoyable but feeling smug as the road to work has been a car park for the last hour or so which also means it's nice and quiet in the office.

Sometimes, no impact is lost in simplicity.

Talking of which, my two muppets were way up on the muppetry scale this morning. Shorty decided to hide some of Tricky's essential stuff - you know dolls clothes/accessories etc, before she woke up.
(If you can press a button or yank a chain, then it has to be done. A negative reaction is far better than the mundane, apparently).
Being Aspergers with Tricky's attention to detail, this caused pre-school riot.
I don't think I am far off having the skills to broker a comprehensive middle east peace treaty.

I really need to get things moving but I don't know which things to move.

Morning, rather meh day thus far, more meh to come no doubt.

Currently downloading crap from HP's website which appears to be running on coal, and the stokers are mainly dead.

Later shall be messing about in the garage making a little pain cave for the turbo setup.

I want new bars and seat post. Only original bits on my bike except the frame and shifters.

I expect I will have my current pig iron bars and scaffolding seat post until then disintegrate.

2018 one for me but its the same stem i think: flat topped aero job, triangular in shape. you have to be careful getting the 'bars to match - the ones from Merlin are a different black and have a "superzero" sticker on it and the silver Deda on the 'bars is a different silver to that on the stem, the black ones from CRC match the stem in black and silver bits but have a red "superzero" logo across the top.

my Merlin ones are going back tomorrow, the CRC are staying.

on looks alone, both are very recommended, won't get a chance to ride the bike until next week now that TDV is away..... will report back.

when ordering bars note they are measured quirky - i take a 40cm and had to order 42cm 'bars.

just noted 2019 stem is the same as '18 but with the sticker that matches the merlin 'bars as detailed above.

My CRCs are '18 to match the '18 stem.

either way, they look sweet and so will yours.

    yup. scarey for me, eh.

one brand new shiney black & grey S3. sitting in my kitchen.Latest Ultegra 11 speed gruppo.

at such a ridiculous price it was too good to miss. already got rid of the stock wheels, saddle, stem & 'bars, so just to finalise position & cut off excess steerer.

    So that'll be slammed then.

it matches the bike - good enough to work perfectly but when you smash it up you go "no dramas, its only an S3 with ooooltegra" and just order another one. perfect race bike & all year round training bike for that reason.

word - will keep you updated. it all has potential.

the only downside so far is that the top bolt is level with the top of the stem so to get head set preload you have to have a 5mm spacer on top which is ugly (never really trusted that thing about presetting, then doing up stem bolts then taking top bolt & cap off).

Does it need to be 5mm? The thinnest I have is 5mm but CRC and Amazon have some 2 and 3mm ones which might look better, especially with a nice sleek top cap.

    good point well presented.

its only a 10 second job so will try at 2mm then work upwards - theres no point fitting superzero this and deep rim that if you're going to make it look like a communter bike with a spacer on top of the stem.

I had a mare when I fitted mine, my expander bung has a lip so had to use more spacers than I wanted to fit it. That an as you said the bolts silly close to the top. That an trying to keep that tear drop shaped cap level when it just wants to spin is a pain.

    Look pretty mind

oooh - that does look pretty. big phat het.

i'm using a Cane Creek top cap - the Cervelo one looks cheap and is domed upwards, this sits perfect flat - they look excellent when its all slammed but if i have to have a stupid spacer i'll be gutted.

Yeah I need to have a play with mine, this stems 20mm longer than my old ones but I had no problems over the weekend so my try some slammery it's easy enough to do or reverse out on the road.
I have an annoying fsa semi integrated headset so I might be able to get away with full slammed for angry aeros. If I can I may see about an upper part from slam that stem for that nigh on zero lip look
