I have to say it is a shame but about time. Phenomenal athlete who took the sport to a different level at her peak. Looked capable of producing solid results racing against men.
Just hope she doesn't pay a physical price for chasing the dream a little too long. Hopefully too damaged to compete at the highest level doesn't mean a long life of aches and pains. Same goes for Andy Murray I guess.

Sophia Goggia has been gradually evolving into the next great downhiller. Although apparently some other yank seems to be doing slightly better than average in most disciplines. Stenmark has survived one assault, not sure he'll manage to retain his record much longer.

She's had some horrendous crashes. Hopefully she'll become a Eurosport pundit as I would happily watch her.

totally agree, she was, still is, a phenomenal athlete, certainly an inspiration for women in sport, always enjoyed watching her race as she just had that knack of finding tenths of a second on a course when others couldnt, plus shes had injuries that normally are career ending, and yet come back and still won races.

Ski racing is a tough old sport on the body.

As above. You have to have done a bit of skiing to appreciate what downhill skiers do.

I have had the pleasure of skiing the strief in kitzbuhel (normally obviously, not straight down). The idea of going straight is somewhat ridiculous.

Incredible skier, best lady skier of all time so far, but will be eclipsed by Schriffin.
Hope she is able to ski with her kids and grand kids in the future.

Missed that. They tend to get repeated though.
Was a good world champs despite very variable weather and short courses. The quality shone through throughout the 10 days and no obscure winners.

A bit shallow this, but as well as being immensely talented, extremely tough and articulate she's also absolutely f***ing gorgeous.
Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.
